Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH SYBIL MOSCOVITCH August 31, 1934 - December 24, 2018 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Ruth Sybil Moscovitch (nee Gonick) at age 84. She was predeceased by her parents, Lewis and Minnie Gonick, and by her husband, Jerry. She is survived by her children: Glori Ann (Luc Menard); Louise (Jason) Lauzon; Charles; Evelyn (Chutch) Bernstein; her grandchildren: Matthew and Lexie, Jacob and Jonas; and her brother Cy Gonick Ruth was born and raised in Winnipeg. She attended Balmoral Hall School and then completed secretarial school. Growing up she spent many summers at Winnipeg Beach. At 19, she met her future husband, Jerry and after a brief courtship they married in 1954. They moved to Los Angeles, where their two oldest children were born. When her mother took ill, they moved back to Winnipeg so Ruth could be close to her family; she spent the remainder of her life devoted to taking care of those who needed her. Ruth was a loving wife and a doting mother who always put the needs of her family above her own. She was the primary caregiver for Jerry during his battle with dementia, visiting him daily in hospital and then at the Simkin Centre. Even while Ruth was preoccupied carrying for others, she always kept up with current events, politics and the Jets. She enjoyed summers with her family in Clear Lake, trips to Palm Springs, Florida, Los Angeles and Vancouver. Most of all she was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren and all their accomplishments and had great pleasure in time spent with them. Ruth had a quiet presence. A kind and caring soul, she was always interested in other people rather than focusing on herself. She was truly a "Giver"; Ruth accepted life's challenges and always tried to look at the bright side. She never complained and even to very end she held a remarkably positive outlook. A graveside funeral was held on December 26, 2018 at Rosh Pina Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers were Matthew Bernstein, Noam Gonick, Earl Glinter, Brayden Bernstein, Griffin Bernstein and Jay Greenfeld.
