BERNIE NELSON On Sunday, February 3, 2019, Bernie Nelson passed away unexpectedly at Grace Hospital. Bernie will be forever remembered by his daughters, Linda and Lori (spouse David) and grandchildren, Nicole, Ashlyn and Colton. Bernie will also be remembered by his sisters, nieces, nephews and friends. Bernie was predeceased by his loving wife Elizabeth (Liz) and his parents, Martin and Mary. A lifelong resident of Winnipeg, Bernie was a local sports star and avid fan. As a youth, Bernie played both soccer and basketball. He went on to coach soccer, basketball and other sports, and was proud to take a youth soccer team to Expo '67 as their head coach. Bernie never lost his passion for sports and in his later years he would often be found listening to or watching a variety of team sports. In his family relationships, Bernie truly missed his wife and often expressed a hope that they would be together again one day. He enjoyed time with his daughters and talked about how proud he was of his grandchildren's accomplishments. Bernie was a lover of animals, particularly his two dogs, Magic and Brandy. In lieu of flowers, those who so desire may make donations in memory of Bernie to the Winnipeg Humane Society. Dad, you will be missed.
