KENNETH JOHN DILK It is with heartbreak and deep sadness that we say good-bye to our father, grandfather, brother and friend. Ken passed away on February 14, 2019. Ken was born in Waldersee, Manitoba on October 24, 1939, the first child of Frieda and Val Dilk. Ken leaves behind his three children, Sandra Chapman (Brad), Robert Dilk (Shelly) and Susan Black (Harry); his three grandchildren, Austin Coutts, Hayden Coutts and Jordyn Dilk; and his brother and sisters, Lloyd Dilk, Judy Rossnagel (Johnny), Louise Dilk, Dianna Bohn (Frank), Jane Wilson (Wayne) and Audrey Stewart (Gord). Those who knew Ken will remember his bright smile, his hearty laugh, and the joy he expressed when he was surrounded by family and friends. Ken had a successful career in the insurance industry, and he made many close friends from his professional and sporting endeavours. Ken loved the outdoors and spent as much time as he could with his friends fishing, hunting and golfing. He was an avid sportsman and he was fortunate to be surrounded with dear friends who shared these passions with him. Ken will be remembered for his athletic abilities and for his love of the game of fastball. Ken spent many years on the field as a fastball pitcher among some of his closest friends who were also his teammates. Highlights of his pitching career include leading the Molson Canadians (1967 to 1968) to the World Fastball Championships in Oklahoma City where the team earned the Silver Medal. The team was later inducted into the Manitoba Sports Hall of Fame in 1991. Ken also played for the Winnipeg Colonels beginning in 1973 and he continued to play the game he loved so much. Ken's children remember those years growing up on the baseball field and how proud they always were of their dad and their "hero". Ken will be missed dearly, for his ready laughter, his tight hugs, his zest for life and for his generous heart. We will forever hold him tenderly in our hearts. A celebration of Ken's life will be held at a date to be announced. ejcoutu.ca
