LANA BURMAN
Born: Mar 28, 1928
Date of Passing: Feb 16, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLANA BURMAN March 28, 1928 - February 16, 2019 On February 16, 2019 Lana passed away peacefully, in her sleep, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her daughter Brenda Backé (Ralph); grandchildren, Marisa Backé (Justin) and Severin Backé; sister Merle Bilan; and special nephew James Bilan (Karen). Lana was a trained seamstress and pattern designer and was known for her sense of style and for her amazing eye for design and fashion. Lana spent her working career at Air Canada Finance and unwillingly retired at the then mandatory age of 65. While the throes of dementia took away Lana's ability to walk for miles dressed to the nines in her four-inch heels and cook gourmet meals; her family was blessed to learn another side of her. While still as sassy as ever, she became a sillier, gentler version of herself. She enjoyed the simple things like receiving hugs and letting you hold her hand. A heartfelt thank you to Tuxedo Villa Extendicare for their loving care of Lana and especially all the amazing nurses and healthcare aides on Unit 2. Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family interment and Celebration of Life at a later date. "Mom, Lana, Grandma, we love you and will miss your feisty personality. Into the freedom of the wind and sun we have let you go!" www.voyagefuneralhome.com

Brenda, I extended my deepest sympathies on the passing of your dear mother. She had this quiet self-assertiveness I admired. "A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous" Coco Chanel said it, but to me your mum lived it. I'm still not sure if she was more style or fashion, but definitely had grace. She will be missed. - Posted by: Robert Fairbairn (Air Canada colleague) on: Mar 05, 2019

I remember dealing with Lana when she worked in Treasury and I in Cargo Finance. We had many lunchtime walks and chats together. She was the sweetest person I knew and was always so put together. I remember meeting Brenda when she was just a young child and how proud Lana was of her. There are not enough words in a vocabulary to say how lovely this woman was. My deepest sympathies to Brenda and her family on the loss of your Mum. Terry - Posted by: Terry Leah (Co-worker) on: Feb 23, 2019

I was just looking at my wedding pictures yesterday with my daughter-in-law and I talked about Lana. Lana was one of my bridesmaids almost 60 years ago and she gave me a small wedding shower that I have always remembered. We worked together and she made me laugh often. Lana was a beautiful woman and always carried with herself with grace. - Posted by: Rita Frejuk (Fairley) (Friend) on: Feb 23, 2019

As an Interior Designer at Wilson's Furniture, I enjoyed working with Lana. She was always beautifully dressed & I could understand & share her love of fine furniture. I think she spent many of her lunch hours in the store :-). My condolences to her family. - Posted by: Dale Scott (business) on: Feb 23, 2019
