WILLIAM (EWAN) WATT It is with sadness that we announce the death of William (Ewan) Watt on Friday, February 15, 2019. Dad passed away at the Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg, at the age of 73 years. Dad was born in in the Orkney Islands in a town called Kirkwall, Scotland on July 10, 1945. He came to Canada with his mother and sister in 1953. He had a long and successful career in the office equipment industry. Dad was most proud of the work he did for many years as the President of the Retail Merchants Association of Manitoba. He was a sports fan and long-time season ticket holder with the Bombers and Jets 1.0. Left to survive are his son Ewan Jr. (Sharlene); daughter Tanis Hutchinson (Kevin); grandchildren, Rachel, Lauryn and Tyler; former wife Joyce Watt; sister Mary Hayes; as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his beloved mother Thora Watt. According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and no service will be held. A family interment will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the staff at Victoria Hospital who showed compassion to Dad in his final days. Flowers are gratefully declined. Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • Ewan and I go back to the early 1980's when I was a buyer for GWL. I always respected Ewan as he was always a very professional person in my dealings with him. I kept in contact with him for many years and visited him numerous times at his office for The Retail Merchants Association on Arthur Street. It doesn't seem like I had not been in contact with him since 2018. My deepest condolences to his family, he will be sadly missed. - Posted by: Theodore Geurds (Business Associate & Friend) on: Jul 17, 2022

  • I was very saddened to receive a phone call from my son today advising of the passing of my dear friend Ewan. We had so many good times over the years. In recent years we would get together for coffee and swap lies and decide how our Jets and Bombers could bring home the cup. What an emptiness to know I won’t be seeing you again. My heart goes out to all the Family. God bless. Jim Quail - Posted by: Jim Quail (Friend) on: Feb 27, 2019

  • Ewan was a friend, a mentor and true gentleman. He was driven and relentlessly. He was a great storyteller that alway could put a smile on your face. I will miss him and his smile. - Posted by: Remo Aiello (Friend and colleague) on: Feb 26, 2019

  • It was with great sadness that Marie and I learned of the passing of Ewan. I had done business with Ewan for many years during our time in Winnipeg. We developed a good friendship which, to my great pleasure, extended beyond our business dealings. He was a character, but beyond all else, he was a good man. He will be missed, but will always remain in our thoughts. Our sincerest condolences to Ewan's family and friends. We are deeply sorry for your loss. • Gus, you were truly one of kind. I will always remember you for the good times you provided my brothers and myself at your cabin at Lester Beach when we were young. As well as your lively and entertaining personality at holiday dinners. You were always kind & generous toward us. I hope you have found some peace.
