Sheila was quite the gal! I first met her 43 years ago when I first came to teach with her at Andrew Mynarski Junior High school in Winnipeg. She was ever cheerful, adding a positive note to our morning coffee sessions in the custodian’s room. I enjoyed our trip together to the Maritimes where you shared your love and knowledge of that wonderful part of Canada. I thank you for your friendship & and the many good times shared. John & I regret not being there for your memorial as we are away from home but you’re in our thoughts, knowing you’re in good company and that friends, Bill, Ted, Molly, and Judy will be waiting to welcome you. I became friends with Sheila when she lived in Kenaston Village in 1990, the year my son was born. He is soon to be 29. She became my English proctor all those years ago and was meticulous about grammar. We stayed friends throughout the years, playing scrabble, going to the theatre or movies and of course, breakfast at The Pancake House. Sheila lived her life to the fullest, travelling right up to the end and she was deservedly ready for her wings. Goodbye Sheila. I will miss you. - Posted by: Janice Perkins (Friend) on: Mar 02, 2019

I first met Sheila about 40 years ago when we both sang in the choir at St. Stephen's United Church on Broadway. My husband, Bill, and I often socialized with her at gatherings and in our homes. Sheila was like a breath of fresh air! She had the ability to story tell, take us mentally on her travels (some of her escapades were hilarious) and she treated her friends with kindness, generosity and respect. She had a strong faith which comforted her often. We would run into each other out of the blue and it would feel like yesterday. I regret not keeping in touch over the past few years; however, I know Sheila is now healthy, worry-free and ready for her next life adventure! - Posted by: JANIE MARSHALL (friend) on: Mar 02, 2019

To Sheila's family, my sincere condolences. Sheila and I taught at River Heights JHS and continued our friendship as she moved over the years and went on many adventures. Throughout these years we shared many ups and downs in our lives with sorrow and joy and much laughter. It was my pleasure and privilege to have shared weekly lunches with Sheila in the past year. Unfortunately, following knee surgery and complications with my back, I am unable to walk or sit without assistance. I will not be able to attend Sheila’s funeral. My prayers are always with her. She will not be forgotten. - Posted by: Lucille Bisignano (Friend ) on: Mar 02, 2019

I was so very lucky to have visited with my Aunt Sheila in Kingston, Ontario this past fall. Due to her illness she was unable to cruise the Danube - a dream of hers - so she cruised the St. Lawrence instead. I will be forever grateful for being able to spend time with her and her friend, Janice, before their flight left for home. Sheila was a stellar birthday card sender. She never forgot and I am in awe of her thoughtfulness. It is evident Sheila had many friends who loved her. She will be missed by my sisters and I and by her family and friends. As a lover of travel (and french!) I wish you Bon Voyage, Aunt Sheila. Love to you always - Janet - Posted by: Janet Reinink (Niece) on: Feb 28, 2019

Sheila and I shared our trip to Church for a few years and many lunches together. She had a great love for God and everyone around her. You could not help but love her for her beautiful smile and the cheerful attitude. I will miss her but she will be in my heart. Leah Vermette - Posted by: Leah Vermette (Friend) on: Feb 25, 2019

Sheila exuded, in her daily life, what the church was all about. I knew her only through her friendliness, her warm handshake, her twinkly smile, and her sincerity. Really, she was the church personified to me. You can't beat those Maritimers for genuine good qualities and selflessness!! Truly, Sheila was number one .....but would NEVER think that!
