Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE PERREAUX It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of our husband, father, brother, uncle and dear friend George Perreaux on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the age of 77 years. George was born on March 27, 1941 in Antler, Saskatchewan to Lenora (Harris) and Fernie Perreaux. He grew up in the rural community of Bellegarde, where he met his sweetheart of 60 years, Georgette Cop. George and Georgette were married in 1962 and moved to Winnipeg shortly after, where they settled in the St. Boniface area and started a family that grew to include sons, Roland and Daniel and daughter Nicole. George was well known in the local trucking industry, spending over 45 years as a service manager and gaining a reputation as the go-to guy when it came to servicing trucks and trailers. He spoke fondly of his days on the shop floor, retiring only when he absolutely had to simply because he loved it so much. Away from work, George was a talented woodworker who used both his hands and his heart to make gifts for family and friends, including custom-made camping tables and clocks. When not puttering in his workshop, George enjoyed meeting buddies for a cold beer and to shoot the bull at Club LaVerendrye or the Belgian Club. George will long be remembered for his sharp but teasing sense of humour, and his quick wit brought smiles to the faces of family and caregivers up until his final day with us. We will fondly recall spending time with him in the places he was happiest, whether it was in the living room watching curling and wrestling, at the dining room table playing cards or sharing a cup of coffee early in the morning at the camp site. He especially enjoyed attending the Cop family reunion in Kenosee, Saskatchewan, and always looked forward to the annual gathering of relatives and friends from near and far. Above all, George valued family. He was predeceased by both of his parents and in-laws, Wilfred and Irma Cop, along with sister-in-law Irene Wilvers, brother Ed Perreaux, sister-in-law Bev Perreaux, nephews, Darren Perreaux and Clayton Cop. George will forever be in the hearts of his loving wife Georgette, son Roland Perreaux (Heather), son Daniel Perreaux (Barb), and daughter Nicole Nicholls and their families. George is survived and will be dearly missed by his brothers, Roger Perreaux (Madeleine) and Gerard Perreaux (Leslie), along with a large extended family including the many nephews and nieces he adored and special friends who brought joy to his life. The family wishes to thank the doctors and nursing staff at St. Boniface Hospital's MICU for their extraordinary care and compassion in ensuring George's well being and comfort. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in George's memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or Heart & Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church at 778 Archibald Street with Father Armand Le Gal, OMI and Father Kevin Bettens officiating. I had known George for over 30 years, working for him in the beginning as aN apprentice back in 1982. We worked together at Trailmobile, RJ Equipment, and Breadner Trailers over the years, and I would say that he was one of the greatest guys I ever worked with. When I was a young apprentice at Trailmobile, I was outside in the rain working on a truck 5th wheel and was having issues getting it to work. All the other older techs were watching out the door, and chuckling about me being in the rain. George came over, got them back to work, and then came outside in his dress shirt and pants to help me. He taught me a lot that day, and I had new found respect for that man. After we fixed it, I apologized to him for ending up with grease, etc. all over his clothes. He told me that his motto was "never ask someone else do something that you would not do yourself. No one is above the situation, regardless" That has stuck with me my entire life since, and I practice it daily. I kept in contact with George over the years, running into him here and there, or calling him to chat and see how he was doing. Going to miss you George, and I am proud to say I knew you. There are many kind and wonderful tributes offered here, so I thought I should add a thought. George would probably have a rebuttal zinger for me if he read this. So here goes.....I believe that George (alias The Cat) wasn't ten minutes gone from our midst before he found himself surrounded by other family and friends who predeceased him and, as I imagine the situation, one of these folks offered the following toast: Here's to it and there's to it. If you can't do it when you get to it.....let George do it, he's used to it!! Hail to The "CAT"!!! He was most surely one of the very best ones. Love you, brother - Posted by: Roger Perreaux (Brother) on: Feb 27, 2019

I have know George for many years, we would meet after our days work for a friendly chat over a beer at the Nicollete. He was a true friend, if I need a hand or something repaired, or where to go and get it done, George was the man that knew it all as he was handy and knowledgeable at many trades, especially in the trucking and Automotive industry. That's called a Gift from above. I'm glad I saw him for two days before his passing. I will forever miss him. - Posted by: Alex Moodrey (Longtime friend) on: Feb 26, 2019

Condolences to the family. George was a good friend and a mentor in the trailer business. He was a legend in his trade and truly the "go to guy". His work on this earth was finished and has gone to meet his God. We are in BC and cannot be there to say goodbye but you are in our thoughts and prayers.
