FLORA ANN ERRATT It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Flora (Flo) Ann Erratt (Mason) who passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Tuesday, February 26, 2019. Flora leaves to mourn her daughter Sharon Corney (Keith), son Lorne, daughter-in-law Joanne (Lyle), grandchildren, Charla Hanson (Curtis), Alora (Dallas) and Bradley, great-grandchildren, Dylan, Hayden and Ashton. She also leaves to mourn her two sisters, Cathy and Jean, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Flora was born November 5, 1925 in Star City, SK to Scottish homesteaders Thomas and Margaret Mason. Flora was raised in Carragana, SK with her four sisters, Cathy Telford, Jean Kane, Audrey Piasta and Elsie Birtles. Together the sisters accrued many great memories upon which they reminisced over the years. When she was 13 her family travelled back to Scotland. They spent a few years there that Flora remembered fondly. The family was forced to return because of the dangers posed by the Second World War. During the war Flora worked as a 'Bomb Girl' manufacturing munitions at a factory in Ajax, ON. After the war Flora moved to Winnipeg where she met her husband Lorne Erratt, and together the two started a family. They raised their daughter Sharon and their three sons, Lorne, Lyle and Arthur in Transcona and in Ladner, BC. Flora was a fierce caregiver and tended to her family with the utmost love and attention. She extended her role as caregiver to her grandchildren, Charla, Alora and Bradley and would have undoubtedly resumed that role for her great-grandchildren Dylan, Hayden and Ashton had she been able to. For many years, following the death of her husband, Flora had lived independently and had taken great pride in her independence. Toward the end of her life a debilitating surgery left her in need of care, and so she made her home at Beacon Hill and River East personal care homes. We are very grateful for the wonderful care she received. We would also like to extend a very special thank you to her nieces, Bev Miller and Shirley Kane for their compassionate assistance. At Flora's request a small family service will be held as well as a Celebration of Life which will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Flora's memory may be made to a favourite personal charity.
