Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDERMOT THOMAS ROONEY April 30, 1938 - February 26, 2019 After a lengthy, valiant struggle with his illness, Dermot passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 26 at the Golden Door Personal Care Home at the age of 80. Dermot is survived by his wife Clementine, daughter Fiona (Gord), son Dermot Jr., as well as grandson Colin, and granddaughters, Danielle and Deirdre. Dermot was a proud Irishman, a collector of books, and a fierce supporter of the Irish language and genealogy. The family would like to thank Dr. Ross and all the wonderful staff at The Golden Door Care Home for taking great care of Dermot over the last three years. In keeping with Dermot's wishes, cremation has taken place and a funeral mass celebrating his life will be held on Monday, March 4, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Vital Roman Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy.

I first met the family when Fiona and I were in elementary school. Her dad Dermot would call me ugly, and I called him the same. I was sorry to read that he has passed. I would like to offer my sincere condolences to you Clementine and family. I first met with Dermot while working with him at Advance TV in 1969 and later when he worked at the Manitoba Hydro Chevrier complex. He was always such a nice man and it was a pleasure to work & talk with him...so many nice memories I was happy to have met him again at the Golden Door.
