DONALD CHAMBERS March 22, 1936 - February 22, 2019 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of a wonderful Husband, Dad and Papa. He passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side. Dad was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Weston in a family of 7. He played high level hockey and soccer and enjoyed speed skating. He also refereed Major Junior Hockey. He married the love of his life Shelagh on June 15, 1963. They celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary in 2018. In 1970 they moved from Winnipeg to Sherwood Park, AB and raised two daughters, Shannon and Heather (husband Geoff and grandsons, Luke, 19, and Justin, 16). He taught his grandsons to skate and Papa loved watching them play hockey and baseball. He was so proud of them. He loved playing golf but that sought after hole-in-one eluded him. He was an avid Oilers and Eskimos fan. We enjoyed many family vacations. Dad and Mom had 25 years of vacations to Palm Springs. Dad loved nothing more than to golf in the morning and be surrounded by family around the pool floating on a lounge chair with a rum and coke in hand. Dad was an avid volunteer - coaching his daughters' Ringette teams, driving for any event happening in the city, ACT member, and drove cancer patients to appointments. He loved playing poker with the guys. Our parents loved entertaining. Dad always made sure you had a drink in hand. Dad was active playing floor curling and carpet bowling at the 55 Plus Club almost until his passing. He loved to keep active and would work out at the gym several times a week. He is survived by sister Fran, sister-in-law Sheila, brother-in-law Tom (Arline), sister-in-law Margaret (Ken), sister-in-law Gladys and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Predeceased by his parents, sisters, Evelyn (Johnny) and Doreen (Frank), brother Neil, brother-in-law Don, in-laws, Jim (Doreen), Jack, Bob and Don. Special thank you Dr. Trent Dusang for all his special care. Donations can be made to the charity of your choice or the Alberta Lung Association. There will be no service but a memorial bench will be placed in his honour. God Bless you Don, Dad, Papa, we will miss you and love you forever.
