WILLIAM HENDERSON PETRIE On March 4, 2019, after a long illness, William Henderson Petrie passed away quietly and peacefully. William was born July 6, 1930 in Glasgow Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1961. He was the youngest son of William Henderson Petrie Sr. and Elizabeth Ponter. Bill is survived by his wife of 63 years, Robina Whitten; daughters, Donna Potenza (Roberto) and Jacqueline Elston (Richard); grandchildren, Matthew, Jennifer, Michael, and Daniel; great-grandchildren, Sierra, Vivien, Alex, Connor, Joseph and Yvette; and numerous nieces and nephews in Scotland. He was predeceased by his grandson Alex Potenza; great-grandson Euan Artus-Elston; brother John (Agnes); sisters, Betty (John), Mary (Arthur), Sadie (Ray) and Williamina at age two; nephews, Billy Gribbon and Ray Gratwick; and niece Maureen Carey. Bill loved photography and astronomy and his last day was spent happily opening new computer hardware. A private family interment will take place at a later date at Glen Eden Cemetery. Dad believed that because matter is never destroyed, only changing its shape, that his atoms would return to the universe to become stardust. We wish to thank the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service and the doctors and nurses of St. Boniface Hospital Emergency for their kind and thoughtful care.
