LYNETTE TURNER (MCCLUSKY)
Born: Sep 02, 1939
Date of Passing: Mar 06, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLYNETTE TURNER September 2, 1939 - March 6, 2019 It is with deepest sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lynn Turner (nee McClusky). She was predeceased by her husband Douglas, parents, William and Kathleen, and brother Tom. Leaving to mourn her passing are her daughter Laura, sons, Brian (Debbie) and Andrew, grandchildren, Scott (Mandi), Jenna (James), Justin, Colin (Christine), and her most recent joy, her great-granddaughter Adelaide. She will also be greatly missed by her numerous friends and family members, as well as her beloved dog Teddy. Lynn was born September 2, 1939 in Winnipeg. She attended Ralph Brown, Inkster, Faraday and Issac Newton schools. Her secondary education led her to business courses at Manitoba Technical Institute. Shortly after beginning her career at the CBC she married the love of her life Doug, in August of 1958. After leaving CBC, she moved to what she considered her most important job of raising her three children. Lynn was very involved in her children's school lives and activities. Sixteen years later, in 1977, she returned to the work force as office manager at the Outreach Ministry of Stella Mission, where she spent 15 years. Following her retirement, her time was spent caring for her grandchildren and volunteering for 13 years at Seven Oaks Hospital gift shop. Lynn and Doug enjoyed a loving marriage of 51 years and she missed him dearly after his passing in 2009. Family and friends were always Lynn's main joy in life. Lynn's caring nature filled any room she walked into. She wanted nothing more than for everyone around her to be happy, healthy and content. Lynn took great pleasure in her many social groups and clubs. She always enjoyed maintaining a very active lifestyle. She was a regular at The Wellness Institute, attending classes up until only days before her unexpected passing. It was unclear whether she attended more for spin classes or for coffee with her friends before and after. Lynn's energy and attitude made her seem younger than she really was. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. Mom, we will miss you dearly, and you will remain forever in our hearts. I just thought of Lynn today, as I have over the years since I moved away from Winnipeg. Lynn and Doug were two of my very favourite people. One of the worst parts of selling my little West K house was not having them next door anymore. I still think of and miss them both. ❤️ - Posted by: Jennifer (Former next-door neighbour and Friend.) on: Jul 16, 2023

I was so shocked to hear this sad news. I saw Lynn almost every day at the Wellness, where we often took the same exercise classes. She was a lovely person and I will miss talking to her. She was kind enough to let me interview her for an article in the Free Press about the social benefits of attending the gym — she was a shining example of how it keeps you young — and her affection for her friends at the Wellness shone through as she talked about her regular coffee dates. My sincere condolences to her family — she talked about you so often with so much pride and affection. - Posted by: Jill Wilson (Friend) on: Mar 29, 2019

I am so sorry for your family's loss. Lynn was a very special lady. We will always remember her as a kind and thoughtful angel. Both Lynn and Douglas left fond memories (one fond memory the haunted house at Halloween at Inkster School totally run by them which they made it allot of fun) for us which will be cherished forever. - Posted by: Sophie & Glen Jones (Friends and Neighbours) on: Mar 18, 2019

My wife Brenda and I are very sad to hear of Lynn's passing. My wifes parents lived across the lane and we got to know the Turners. We still live in the neighbourhood and always enjoyed seeing or sharing a few words with Lynn and " Teddy". Our sincere condolences to the family. - Posted by: Rick Stefanko (Family friend) on: Mar 15, 2019

Lynn was special to us in so many ways. Her sense of humour, her compassion to all. A great listener and very beautiful lady inside and out. She always said, it was the coffee before and after our workouts that kept her coming to the gym. She was a perfect example of what wellness is all about. Rest in peace our dear friend. I initially met Lynn through walking our dogs in the neighbourhood. We quickly became friends and I always looked forward to seeing her. At home my dogs would bark and let me know when Lynn & Teddy were coming down the back lane! Each day this week I've looked at my back gate with such sadness...I'll miss seeing Lynn standing there with Teddy. She's left a big hole in our lives and will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Jackie Hykaway (Friend & neighbour) on: Mar 12, 2019

Auntie Lynn....so hard to believe you’re gone !! I have known you literally, my whole life. You and Mom were roomies when Laura and I were born; which spilled over to to a lifelong friendship between families. Two of us even share yours and Uncle Doug’s names, as well as countless memories of trips and other shenanigans !! You will forever be in our hearts, and Laura and I are setting aside a special time, to celebrate our Moms.....the best of the best. God bless you Laura, Brian, Drew, Teddy and families. We will always be here for you. With lots of love, Uncle Alby, Erin, Doug, D’Arcy and families. - Posted by: Erin (Dear friend ) on: Mar 12, 2019
