Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHORST HACK May 3, 1938 - March 4, 2019 Like the birds he loved to watch soaring in the heavens, so Horst's spirit has soared to God. He leaves behind his cherished wife of 60 years, Marianne; his beloved daughter Dominique (Clayton) Halverson; and the apple of his eye, his adored granddaughter Geneva. Horst's zest for life was as big as his heart, sense of humour, and personality. He was a man of faith, and a man of many talents which he used for the enjoyment of others. Special thanks for their outstanding care and compassion to the team at Poseidon Care Centre. A funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, March 12, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Alphonsus Church, 341 Munroe Ave. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to World Vision Canada. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

So sorry to learn of this. I shared Horst's love of both birds and orchids, and learned so much about orchids from him. My favourite Horst story was the time when he had a plant that was almost ready to bloom, but wasn't going to be in time for the orchid show. In a flash of inspiration, he put it into a warm (not hot!) oven and the extra warmth nudged it along to bloom for the show. Fondly remembered and sadly missed. My condolences to Marianne, Dominique and the rest of his family. - Posted by: Robert Parsons (Friend) on: Mar 12, 2019

I will remember Horst for his smile, laughter and the twinkle in his eye. He was my mentor in the orchid world. His love of these beautiful plants and his passion for birdwatching speak of his nature. R.I.P. Horst. I will miss you. - Posted by: Elaine Jory (Friend and neighbour) on: Mar 11, 2019
