LAVERNE COCHRANE (nee LAPRADE) We are saddened to announce the passing of Laverne Cochrane, 69 years old, of Pleasant Valley, MB, after a brief battle with cancer. She left us on Tuesday, March 5, 2019, in Killarney, with husband Terry and children Charlene and Brett by her side. She is survived by husband Terry; daughter Charlene (Cory); son Brett (Beckie); grandchildren, Ayden, Ellie, Lily, Noah, Zeppelin and Macklin; two sisters, Carol (Bob) and Toni (Ross); and many nieces and nephews. Laverne had a smile that warmed the hearts of many friends and family all over Canada and the U.S. Laverne spent the last 10 years of life in retirement, sharing time living between Pleasant Valley, MB and Lake Havasu, AZ. She enjoyed golfing, gardening and spending time with her six grandchildren. She was busy! Prior to her retirement, Laverne worked for 25 years as a unit clerk at Seven Oaks General Hospital, a job which she loved. A Celebration of Life will take place Thursday, May 9, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sunova Center West St. Paul, 48 Holland Road, West St. Paul. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • I met Laverne when I worked with her at Seven Oaks Hospital. She was very pleasant to work with, friendly and helpful. I am sad to hear about her passing. May she rest in peace. Roslyn Pilgrim - Posted by: Roslyn Pilgrim (Work With Laverne at Seven Oaks General Hospital) on: Mar 12, 2019

  • Laverne, it was very overwhelming and sad when I said goodbye to you on my last visit in February. We are sisters and also carried a very close friendship that only sisters can have. No matter how long we were apart we were always able to pick it up as if there were only days rather than months between visits. We share many treasured memories together and the last 9 years in Lake Havasu during the winter months we were able to just hang out together and for two years were actually next door neighbors. We hung out, toured, really enjoyed a few good destination shopping trips, and much more. I have all those memories to add to all our childhood memories. One funny childhood memory I remember and we had many laughs over was when we were at Newton Park and a particular brother and sister always picked on our little sister Toni. We took after them and you took on the brother and me the sister, kicked butt we did. Within minutes the mother of these two was on our case. Lucky we had the school fence between us. Not so funny then but many laughs later. We (the three sisters) always had each others back. I will miss you dearly, but you are in my heart and will remain there always. • Our deepest and heartfelt sympathy to Terry and his family. We met Laverne through the Canadian Club in Lake Havasu, and had the pleasure of becoming friends. Words cannot express how sad I am. Laverne was a wonderful caring person who touched the lives of many. The more I knew Laverne, the more that I liked her. Terry and Laverne taught us the game of Pegs and Jokers, which quickly became our favorite game. We will continue to miss Laverne during our winters in Lake Havasu, and when we play Pegs and Jokers we will think of Laverne. - Posted by: Verne and Gladys Castle (Friends) on: Mar 10, 2019

  • We had the pleasure of getting to know Laverne over the past 8 years. She and Terry came to visit us in New Brunswick a few years ago. We got to spend time with them and show them around our neck of the woods. To say she was special, doesn’t even come close to this beautiful, warm person. She will be missed by so many people. We are just happy to have had the opportunity to get to know this sweet, smiling face lady. Our sincere condolences to Terry and all her family.
