Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • (I'm only seeing this now, February 2023.) At a difficult time of my life I signed up for organ lessons from Martha (Morgana). Studying with her and practicing took my mind off my own perceived troubles. She was a great inspiration to me, both in her instruction and her own musicianship. I have always remembered one Tuesday afternoon when I'd finally played through an organ composition without playing any wrong notes. As Morgana walked forward from the back of St. Luke's, I said, "Finally, I got it perfect." She replied, "Perfection is not a human trait." While that could have been a deflating remark, it wasn't. It taught me to do my best and then leave it be; don't worry if I don't play every piece perfectly. I've applied that philosophy to other parts of my life, too. My sympathy to the family. - Posted by: Robert Ramsay (Student) on: Feb 11, 2023
