I am very saddened to hear of Wayne's passing. On behalf of my family, we send the Purpur family our deepest sympathy. Even though we haven't crossed paths for over forty years, looking back, I can't help being reminded of our wonderful, fun and adventurous teen years that Wayne and our teenaged group shared together. We would walk for miles, found ourselves hitchhiking to the Oasis and Grand Beach. We swam, danced and did all the fun things that we teens did back then. I remember what a fabulous athlete Wayne was, and would always place first in running and high jumping track events. He even caught the attention of the Olympic Committee. Most importantly, Wayne was a great guy and good friend to all. Rest in Peace Wayne. Tracy Semmer Kloos and Family - Posted by: Tracy Semmer Kloos (Childhood friend) on: Mar 17, 2019

I met Wayne in Carman at my sister's home a few years back. We all spent a warm evening outside and I really enjoyed the great conversation and a few cold beers. He became good friends with Kathy and were a part of each other's lives. He will be sorrowly missed by the ones he became friends with in that town. My sincere condolences to the family and friends left behind. When I "googled" Wayne's name last Thursday I found two old Free Press newspaper archives from 1971 and 1973 with Wayne in it where he had won many track and field awards. Amazing athlete! RIP dear one. - Posted by: Darlene Wall (friend) on: Mar 17, 2019
