Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I am heart broken to hear of Russ's passing He was a wonderful cousin and very special human being. Growing up as children living on the same street in Winnipeg, I was delighted to meet up with him at a hockey game in Cargary where both our children played hockey and we both lived at the time. It was a highlight to have Russ and sons over for dinner where we caught up on life's happenings and I am so grateful to have had that time with him. He was an outstanding man. My condolances to his family and friends. Rest in peace Russ. - Posted by: Jacqueline Darguzas (Cousin) on: Apr 17, 2019

  • Russ was and always will be my favourite cousin. I thought of him often, especially during hockey season. The only positive reason I can think of for the season being so long. We'd email our bets back and forth and he would always change his bet depending on who was winning at the time. It unsettled him that my team always came out on top and he would have to send me a cheque for $1. It wasn't the amount of the cheque but the fact that he would have analyzed all the historic and current stats to make his picks and I based mine on jersey colours, that he found very unsettling. He always signed off "DR. HOCKEY"...a little thing that I will miss a lot. Hugs to you DR. HOCKEY - Posted by: Lesley Croucher (Cousin) on: Mar 30, 2019

  • So sorry to hear of Russ's passing. We were close friends throughout school and then years later Russ was the first ex-Winnipeger I bumped into in Calgary shortly after I moved there in 1981. We often had coffee or lunch together at Petro-Canada Centre. Russ was a kind and gracious man. We shared many a laugh and story together. It was almost uncanny how often we just bumped into each other. I always appreciated his sensitivity and sound ethics both in his personal and business life. He will be missed by many. - Posted by: Russell E Kelly (Friend) on: Mar 30, 2019

  • I’m saddened to learn of Russ’s passing. I worked with him for many years (mostly over the phone) and remember our great conversations about family and life in general. He was a gracious and kind man, I can only imagine what he meant to his family and friends. My sympathy to all of you on your loss. - Posted by: Monica Ptak (Co-worker at Great-West Life) on: Mar 30, 2019
