RONALD ETHIER (ITCH, MR. E)
Date of Passing: Mar 26, 2019
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRONALD ETHIER Ronald Ethier, (Itch, Mr. E), passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at St. Boniface Hospital early Tuesday morning, March 26, 2019, with his family by his side. Survived by his wife Val; son Michael; daughter Karen (Vance); granddaughter Ashley; and stepgrandson Chase. He enjoyed spending time with his family, laughing, eating, and drinking wherever they chose to gather. Ron spent most of his time curling throughout the winter, and golfing in the summer. In addition to golfing, Ron was also a Blue Bombers season ticket holder/fan, and attended every tailgate party possible. He was known for his generous, and selfless personality. He always put the needs of others ahead of his own, and made sure everyone else was happy and having a good time. He was a risk taker, and loved a good challenge (i.e. tubing at the lake or cliff diving). Ron will be deeply missed. A huge thank you to all the staff at St. Boniface Hospital is merited, for providing Ron with amazing comfort and care. No service will be held for the passing of Ron, and in lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to a charity of your choice. www.voyagefuneralhomes.com

To the Ether family, my sincerest condolences. I have known Ron the past 10 years curling with the Granite Masters. Ron was the coordinator for a number of years. No one could do the job better. He treated each of us as his best friend and truly cared for each of us. I apologize for not being able to attend his memorial, but would like you to know he was loved by all. We, I will miss him. May God grant you all peace and loving memories. - Posted by: Stuart Manness (Curling friend) on: May 01, 2019

I got to know Ron over the last 20 years through curling and the 'odd pint' at the "Office' aka the Cambridge, and the Granite CC. So last fall when he called me up to curl two-man stick with him, I found it both an honour and a pleasure to have him as my partner. We managed to win not only the last game he played, but also 'B' Group at the St Vital. Another highlight of his last year was scoring nine of the 12 points in a 12-0 win, by way of scoring a 5-ender in the first end. Ron went out a winner on the ice as well as in life. He will be truly missed. Rest well, Ron - Posted by: Ed Klemm (Curling team-mate, friend and 'foe' on the curling ice) on: Apr 01, 2019

Gonna miss my old golf partner where we used run over our golf balls - we had two eyes between us. Also the frequently heard phrase “where’s my ball”. Be at peace Ronnie. - Posted by: Garry Cullingham (Friend) on: Apr 01, 2019

So very sorry Valerie. We used to meet up with Ron at the Norwood and it was always a pleasure to see him. Prayers and blessings to you and your family. - Posted by: Dorothee Boiteau (Cousin ) on: Mar 30, 2019

Had the opportunity to meet Ron years ago through my Uncle Tom Minchuk who introduced me to the P&H curling league which I have been a part of for the last 28 years. Ronnie was a amazing man and it was my pleasure to know him. He always spoke to me with genuine kindness and respect a true gentleman with a heart of gold. I’ll miss Ron at the curling club and golf course and it saddens me to know next year he won’t be there. But I’m proud to say Ron took my team down and knocked us out of the playoffs this year. The smile on his face said it all. My deepest condolences to the family on such a loss of a beautiful person. - Posted by: Ron malkowich (Friend ) on: Mar 30, 2019
