GLORIA MARIE KELEHER
(nee OHLSON)
Predeceased by her sister Betty Gundvaldsen, and her very loving husband of over 61 years, JJ. Survived by her three sons, Bruce (Leslie Mendelson), Loren (Joan Hreno) and Michael (Elizabeth Richards), and six grandsons, Alex, Eli, Spencer, Myles, Maxwell and Owen.
Gloria graduated from the University of Manitoba with a BSc degree, and started her career at Great West Life Insurance Company, followed as a Laboratory Technologist at Misericordia Hospital. After moves to Ann Arbor, Michigan and London, Ontario, Gloria and JJ, with their now three sons, moved back to Winnipeg where she became the Curator of the University of Manitoba Herbarium, home to thousands of plant specimens collected, traded, pressed and identified by Gloria.
Her love of botany fuelled her passion for raising orchids, her involvement with the Manitoba Orchid Society, the Friends of Assiniboine Park and the Manitoba Native Plant Garden in King's Park.
She was the embodiment of good spirits, never complaining of anything, even where a complaint was warranted. She instilled a sense of adventure in her children and grandchildren who have tried to follow in her footsteps through her travels in North America, Europe, New Zealand, Egypt, Peru, Africa and Thailand to name but a smattering.
Gloria was a much loved wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother. She will be sadly missed.
A memorial will be held in Winnipeg at a later date.

Sorry to hear the news, but greatly inspired by such a great lady. I think she was ahead of her time in terms of her adventures and travel. I know she will be missed but she leaves behind a wonderful legacy in her children and grandkids. - Posted by: Terry Smith (Friend of family) on: Apr 07, 2019

Dear Bruce, Leslie, Alex, Yazmina, and Eli, We are so saddened by your loss. We have never met Gloria since we live in Toronto, but we have heard such lovely things about her throughout. We have just read more about her love of botany, flowers, and gardens. We have just read about her adventurous side. We have known she was stoic and positive. Such a role model for the whole family. Our thoughts are with you. Love, Niva, Steven, Adam, and Andre - Posted by: Niva Piran, Steven, Adam, and Andre Garber (Friends) on: Apr 07, 2019
