JOHN KALOMIRIS
He was predeceased by his parents and siblings.
Survived by wife Irene; children, Helena and Theo; nieces, Eleni, Marina, Shelia and Larissa; sisters-in-law, Leetsa, Marilyn and Pat; nephews, Giorgos, Tim, Sean and Eric.
John was born in Kastos Isle (Greece) and grew up in Piraeus. He worked as a sailor before immigrating to Canada and stayed briefly in St. Catharines before making Winnipeg his home. He met his wife-to-be through a mutual friend while he was working as painter. Towards the end of his career he started his own business, Athena Painting and Decorating. Throughout his adult life he was involved in various capacities with the Greek community, the church, the Greek club and the Greek soccer team. In addition, he had a great enthusiasm for hunting and fishing. John was always willing to lend a hand, bringing along a characteristic humour to task. His family feels grateful that John had many good friends who served as his second family here in Canada.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 8 at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home, 472 Kirkfield Street at Mcbey Avenue.

Irene, Helena, & Theo, We are so sorry to hear of John’s passing. I remember times when he would stop at Mom & Dad’s at the farm in Poplarfield to go goose hunting, he always seemed to find the right spot. RIP John. Hugs to all.
