GILBERT DION
March 25, 1949 - April 10, 2019

With grace and dignity, surrounded by family, Gilbert Dion passed away at Riverview Health Centre on April 10, 2019, at the age of 70.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Michel (Krista Wilkinson), their children, Henri and Madeleine Dion; Marc (Lisa) Dion; Melanie (Jeremy Carlson) and their son Sebastien; and by their mother, Louise Dion.
Gilbert will be deeply missed by his wife, Margaret and her children, Jennifer (Leigh Chapman) and their sons, James, Ben, and Adam; Kyle (Ellie) Muir and their daughters, Vivian and Maxine; Matt (Brianna) Muir and their sons, Aiden and Hudson.
He also leaves to mourn his sister, Yvette Dion of Winnipeg, along with many aunts, cousins, relatives; Margaret's brother, Crawford (Diane) Halliday of Dauphin, and their daughters; her mother, Dorothy Halliday.
He was predeceased by his parents, Leonard Dion and Julienne (née Philippe) and many uncles and aunts.
Gilbert was born in St. Claude, grew up on the family farm, and remained attached to his rural roots. His career path always included small enterprises, taking him from St. Leon, to Winnipeg, to Ste. Rose du Lac, and back to Winnipeg. The jobs he most enjoyed were when he was helping people, mentoring and training. In recent years, he found huge drive and passion for his work with SEED. Gilbert was adept at building relationships and served on many local Boards and federal committees.
He had a gentle way with children and with animals. A lifelong camper, he enjoyed barbecuing, gardening and music festivals. He also enjoyed teaching his beloved grandchildren about boating, canoeing, water skiing, anything to do with the outdoors.

"On t'aime beaucoup, Pepère."

We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Palliative Care team on 3E at Riverview Health Centre.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

My condolence and prayer go out to Margaret and family and all those who are hurting at this time. Unfortunately, I cannot attend the funeral because of other commitments that morning. . - Posted by: Camille Légaré (friend form Nathanael days) on: Apr 13, 2019
