VICTOR FERRIER
April 6, 1948 - April 14, 2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victor Ferrier, at age 71, on April 14, 2019. Surrounded by his loved ones, Vic left too early but touched many hearts.
Vic is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Jo-Anne, his daughter Devon Ostir (Grant), his grandchildren, Keaton, Hayden and Sydney, brothers and sisters, Ray (Ann), Louise Desender (Scott), Michele Groff (David), Leah (Ruby) and Paul (Charlene), nieces and nephews, close family and friends. Vic was predeceased by his parents, Alfred "Freddie" and Lorraine Ferrier.
Vic grew up in Norwood and attended St. Paul's College and Nelson McIntyre Collegiate. He was employed by Agriculture Canada for 25 years, where he made lifelong friendships. His passion was photography and in the early 1980s he started his own photography business, Moments in Time, photographing weddings, doing portraits, team pictures, and progressing to commercial photography. In retirement, Vic loved spending precious time with his three loving grandchildren and travelling extensively with Jo-Anne.
Vic was very grateful for the love and kindness he received from close family and friends during his courageous journey. He especially looked forward to his visits with his sister, Michele. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the skilled and gracious medical professionals who provided care to Vic during his lengthy illness.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Fort Gibraltar, 866 Rue Saint Joseph, Winnipeg, MB R2H 0G4.
Donations in Vic's memory can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.

  • Jo-Anne, I just got the sad news about a very old and dear friend. Although a long way away, Vic was and is the closes friend I ever had, I often thought of him over the years. I have never been as close to someone as I was to Vic. In many ways he was my mentor, I looked up to him. He often pulled me along with his new ideas, or doing stuff, i.e. cycling, skiing, and a lot of stupid stuff, what a great friend he was. We'll be seeing yah buddy. Take care Jo-Anne, I'll come and see you when I next visit Winnipeg. - Posted by: Gil Renault (Very dear friend) on: Jun 27, 2019

  • My sincerest condolences to Joanne & family on Vic's passing. I first met Vic 44 years ago, when I worked at East-West Packers and he was a Grader with Ag Canada. We became very good friends and years later worked together for Agriculture Canada. It was through Vic's encouragement that I made the career move and words can't explain how grateful I've been for his friendship and guidance. After Vic's retirement we lost contact but we met again a couple years at our supervisor's funeral and rekindled old memories. Vic was a very good friend, a man with a keen wit and a great sense of humor and a zest for life. He was a very consciousness person to work with and would always be there if you needed a hand. It was a pleasure knowing and working with him for over 20 years. Rest in Peace Old Friend - till our paths cross again. - Posted by: Jerry Hayduk (Good Friend & retired co-worker) on: Apr 17, 2019
