STANLEY MROCHUK

It is with great sadness but also joy that we announce the peaceful passing of our dearly loved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, at the blessed age of darn near 95 years, on Monday, April 22, 2019 at his home away from home, Vista Park Lodge.
Dad was predeceased by the love of his life, Ruth, but leaves to cherish his memory his children: daughter Debbie Weight (Wayne); son Don (Patti); daughter Cory Daly (Bruce); son Tim (Patricia); son Tracy (Lorraine); 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren with one more on the way; he will also be sadly missed by five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Dad was also predeceased by his parents, August and Mukrena Mrochkowski; stepmother, Nancy Mrochkowski; brothers, Frank and Walter; sister, Mary Rogers, and half-brothers, Patrick and Edward.
Dad was born in East Kildonan on May 30, 1924. He dedicated a major portion of his life to Christ the King School and Parish by way of serving as treasurer for the Lennox Men's Social Club. The Club represented the Parishes of Christ the King, St. Emile and St. Gerard. Funds raised were used to develop and operate the schools and pay for improvements to the respective church buildings. He also served on the Christ the King building board that saw to the design and construction of the present church and later the expansion of the present school. Dad also managed to find time to serve as a Knight in the Knights of Columbus. Dad's career as a Sheet Metal Fabricator with MacDonald Brothers spanned over 40 years and attained the responsibility of Shop Supervisor and Project Estimator. Along with Mom, he loved our annual summer vacations to Blue Lake and especially enjoyed the family Christmas and Easter celebrations. What little of his spare time he had left was spent woodworking and gardening. You knew it was spring when all his tomato seedlings could be found laid out under the grow lamps in the basement.
Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in Christ the King Roman Catholic Church, 847 St. Mary's Road. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 26 at 10:00 a.m. also in the church. Honorary pallbearers will be Stan's grand and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stan's memory to the Siloam Mission, 300 Princess Street, Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3 or a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I'm so sorry to hear that Stan is gone. He was a really kind man always. - Posted by: Tannis Coleman (Bruce Daly's sister) on: Apr 24, 2019

  • I fondly remember Stan and Ruth. They were married very early on while we were all growing up and had a family of their own close to our ages. Stan was always busy working and making repairs around the house while Ruth cooked and they both cared for their growing family. And, so much laughter and fun with all the cousins. I married and moved away but, kept up with their activities through my parents, John and Marie Broeska and the families would always go fishing together and share the bounties of their gardens. The best thing I remember about Stan was that at my wedding which was held at the Heather Curling Club on Des Meurons Stan had the best time and every one commented that "Stan danced every dance and had the time of his life." Ruthie couldn't keep up; who knew, a wedding could do that to a guy? He was a dancing machine and everyone loved watching his joy, his moves were stellar?!!! I remember him with great fondness, both he and Ruthie were part of our early childhood growing up and he adored Ruthie and his family. He will be missed and remembered with love. - Posted by: Linda Broeska Lane (Cousin by marriage to wife Ruth) on: Apr 23, 2019

  • Very sorry to hear of Stan's passing. Sincere condolences to my Broeska cousins. - Posted by: LOIS (NICKEL) BRAUN (COUSIN OF RUTH) on: Apr 23, 2019

  • We send you our deepest sympathy to my cousins and families of my uncle Stan. Keith, Janice and family - Posted by: Keith Dandurand (Nephew) on: Apr 23, 2019
