ARNOLD JAMES HENRY
Dad's memory will be forever cherished by his children, Dave (Becky), Don (Carol), Barb Brown (Ian), Ken (Teresa) and Brian (Sue); grandchildren, Jason (Kim), Sheri (Dave), Charlene, Mike (Melissa), Tyler (Ginette), Leanne, Corey (Breanna), Sarah, Tom and Jennie (Frank) and 13 great-grandchildren as well as his brother Dave Henry, numerous nieces, nephews and a few wonderful friends. Dad was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion of 67 years and infant grandson Sean Henry.
Dad was born January 27, 1929 to Maggie and John Henry. He worked for CNR for 35 years as a Draftsman and then a B & B Master before retiring on January 31, 1986. In 1970 while working full time, Dad spent his evenings and weekends building his and Mom's dream home in St. Andrews where they spent the next 42 years. Dad's workmanship was meticulous and showed great perfection. All of our homes have some of his handywork, whether it be a deck, helping to build our own home, wallpapering or building a fireplace just to name a few. We all think of him when we enjoy our homes the way he did his. Dad had a great sense of humour and enjoyed time with family and friends (especially if it included a meal). He always enjoyed good food, dancing, travelling with Mom, or helping his children with whatever projects they had on the go.
Honouring Dad's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service. A private family interment of both our parents will be held in Elmwood Cemetery at a later date.
We would like to thank the Donwood Manor staff on 2 South for their compassion, respect and care of our dad over the last year and a half.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation in Dad's name to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba or Donwood Manor would be greatly appreciated.
Rest peacefully Dad xo

To the entire Henry family - Our deepest sympathy. They will truly be missed. As mom said to me the other day, she is so sad that they have lost such amazing friends. Prayers and hugs - Love the Klainchar and Collins families - Posted by: Lidia Collins (Friend/Neighbor) on: May 01, 2019

We will miss both Uncle Arn and Aunt Marion. We always loved to see them when they came back home for visits. The girls were always so excited to see the van with the Manitoba plates come driving up the road. We were happy they were able to come for Candice’s wedding and that we got to see them both when we went west. Jim was glad that he talked Dave and Ed Lowry into going out for one last visit. Thinking of you all at this sad time, Jim and Louise and family. - Posted by: Jim and Louise Henry (Uncle ) on: Apr 27, 2019

Another testament to your Dad’s craftmanship is that our cottage at Redditt, that he helped build in 1969, is still standing without any major structural repairs. - Posted by: Rick Whettell (Acquaintance) on: Apr 27, 2019

I worked with Arnold at the CNR way back in about 1955-57. He was a great friend and co-worker. I was about 6 years his junior and I really looked up to him. He was one of the few guys who, when we were out working with the section gangs especially, didn’t tell a lot of dirty stories and use fowl language. But he had a good sense of humour. I loved the man. God bless him. - Posted by: Bob Galston (Friend) on: Apr 27, 2019
