GREGORY KENT SCAMMELL
September 4, 1958 - April 23, 2019
Greg was born on September 4, 1958 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Donna, daughter Janessa, son Justin, parents, Leonard and Lillian, brothers, Dean (Louise) and Tim, sister Cara (Tom Baker), and numerous relatives and friends.
He lived his life with passion and dedication for his family, whom he loved unconditionally. He felt truly blessed to have the love of his wife and kids, showing them off with pride. But it is his family who are the blessed ones. As a husband, everything he did was for his one true love, his soulmate, Donna. Not a day went by that he did not express his boundless love and adoration for her.
As a dad, he was the ultimate protector. His kids felt safe and truly loved; they never had to worry about anything. He was and always will be their pillar of strength and the guiding light of their lives. Through his special bond with his kids, he taught them how to love selflessly.
As a son, Greg always stepped up to take responsibility and helped his parents through challenges. He was there for them, always; he never needed to be asked. He was their pride and joy.
Greg lifted the spirits of those around him with his quick wit and humour. His integrity, selflessness, compassion and big heart are a few parts of his character which compelled him to stand up for what is right. He was entrusted by many to be their confidante. The sense of comfort and love which enveloped the air upon him entering a room is what will leave rooms feeling empty, not just the absence of his physical presence.
Greg spent over 30 years in the automotive industry. His strong work ethic quickly propelled him up the corporate ladder, becoming an Executive. Greg was a longstanding chairman of Special Olympics Manitoba, inspired by his love for his Uncle Larry.
Greg was a fan of hockey and football, golf, fishing, music, history, and movies. He loved to travel and embraced new experiences. Greg enjoyed many amazing vacations with his wife and kids, sharing his vast array of knowledge with his family, who lovingly dubbed him a "walking encyclopedia".
We love you forever and always.
A celebration of Greg's life will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Pineridge Golf Course, the corner of Pineridge Road and Garven Road. A private interment will be held before the Celebration of Life.

Oh Donna and Justin, Chelsea, Chase and I were so saddened by this tragic news. I know we haven't seen you both in such a long time but it seems like it was just yesterday. Greg had still so much living to do and was such a wonderful man. My fondest memories are of his hockey involvements with our boys. He always had a kind strong heart. This thrusts us into reviewing our own longevity and a reminder to love life, our children and those who love us in this moment. Not tomorrow or next week but now. Once your spirit returns I will be coming to see you with all the hockey moms for a much needed reunion. The days ahead will be challenging for you and your family, but know that in time your spirit will return. Much much love Melody xoxoxo - Posted by: Melody Raabe (Friend) on: May 02, 2019

It has been many years since I saw Greg and there were many years between visits but whenever we chatted it was like we had seen each other yesterday. His loving tone and the gleam in his eyes when he spoke of Donna Justin and Janessa was beautiful to see and inspiring to so many. The world has lost a gem and Winnipeg has lost a treasure. - Posted by: Audrey Bishop (née Van Noort) (High school friend) on: Apr 30, 2019

I had the good fortune to work with Greg for several years. I enjoyed every contact and look forward to them. The business was fun, challenging and Greg had a way to make it fun too. It is much too young for Greg to say farewell. My deepest condolences to friends and family. - Posted by: Court Brooker (Friend and business acquaintance.) on: Apr 27, 2019
