LAURIE MOYER

Laurence (Laurie) William Moyer, aged 71, peacefully, with his family by his side, at Lake of the Woods District Hospital on April 22, 2019.
Leaving to mourn: his mother Edith Marie Moyer, two sons, Robert (Kim) and Michael (Jenn), grandchildren, Kennedy, Austyn, Logan and Nova, brothers, Chris, Richard (Susan) and Quentin (Linda), sister Sheryl (John), numerous nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews, and cousins. Predeceased by his father Laurence Henry Moyer.
Laurie worked for his father for several years in construction in Winnipeg before moving to Kenora in his 20s, starting his own construction company that he continued until his retirement five years ago. Laurie loved boating and visiting with friends who returned every summer to their camps on the lake.
Laurie especially loved being with his grandchildren, picking them up after school, babysitting and cooking meals for everyone. He was a generous, kind person who was always there for his family and friends helping whenever needed.
The family will host a celebration of his life this summer.
In honour of Laurie, donations to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital Foundation or charity of one's choice would be appreciated.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • My condolences to the family, I know he will be greatly missed by so many! I will cherish the memories that I have of Laurie. I will miss our visits when Linda & I would go out to Kenora, was so much fun going to your house when you weren't home and mixing and move a few things around for when you came home. Will never forget the time I spent the night at the Moyer's cabin Linda and I drank a ton of shooters and .. well I can't remember what else. We were so hung over the next morning but you convinced us to go out to the chip truck and then to a cabin in your boat. You drove us down the road from the cabin like a roller coaster ride trying to make us sick, then it was into the boat as i sat in the back you were whipping around i was in the back bouncing around, you didn't realized I had moved behind you and thought you knocked me out of the boat.. the look on your face when you didn't see me was priceless.. i will never forget that, will never forget you Mr. Chatty! - Posted by: Darlene Korzinski (Friend of Quentin & Linda) on: May 03, 2019

  • Quentin and Linda, my deepest sympathies on the loss of your brother. Deepest sympathies to the rest of his family and friends. - Posted by: Nina Flath-Christie (Friend of Quentin and Linda) on: May 03, 2019
