BERT GILLMAN
Bert was born July 3, 1935 in the North End of Winnipeg. Having a long career in appliance repair, Bert was well known as the man who could fix anything. He was a generous, loving and proud man who would go out of his way to lend a helping hand to any one of his family and friends. His independence was strongly ingrained in his personality, so much so, that he had difficulty accepting or even asking for help even when he needed it the most.
Unfortunately, chronic illness limited his ability to enjoy his golden years to their fullest, but he always cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.
Bert was predeceased by his parents, Vera and Maurice Gillman, and daughter-in-law Kerry, of blessed memory. Bert will be lovingly remembered by his wife Francine, son Lawrence, grandchildren, Sophie, Michael, Jack and Claire, his sisters, Honey (Harry Reis) and Alyce (Cliff Hnatiuk) along with his nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to the staff on 4 South at the Grace Hospital, Dr. Louis Cheung, Dr. Ryan Amadeo and Dr. Belynda Salter-Oliver for their amazing care.
A graveside service took place at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery, April 1, 2019.
Memorial donations may be made to the Kerry Anderson-Gillman Endowment Fund at the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba, www.goodbear.mb.ca.
Thank you to all those who visited or sent warm thoughts.

My condolences Lawrence and Francine, I have vivid memories of Bert. He was a character and an individual. Most of all I remember him as being extraordinarily kind and warm, and always so proud of Lawrence. I wish you courage and love. Rebecca Forgan - Posted by: Rebecca Forgan (Cousin) on: May 11, 2019
