THOMAS MARTIN BUTTON
November 26, 1928 - May 8, 2019

At Dryden Regional Health Centre, Thomas Martin Button of Dryden passed away peacefully.
Tom was born November 26, 1928 in West Kildonan, Manitoba to Jack and Lillian Button. He attended Victory and Centennial schools, then finished high school at United College (University of Winnipeg) in 1945. He worked a number of jobs before training in a retail pharmacy as an apprentice, then graduating at the School of Pharmacy, University of Manitoba in 1955. He worked in several pharmacies including Meyers Drugs and J Kerr Brown.
He married Evelyn Bealey at St. Martins-In-the-Field Church on August 8, 1958 in Winnipeg, MB. They moved to Shoal Lake, MB in 1967 spending four years there before moving to Dryden, ON in 1971. Together they started Professional Pharmacy in Dryden in 1975, retiring in 1994.
He is survived by children, Jeffrey, Robert (Jeanette) of Thunder Bay, Dawn of Winnipeg; one granddaughter Melissa and two grandsons, Nicholas and Jack. He will be missed by many friends, especially by his long-time companion Laila Tracy. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Evelyn in 2000, grandson Christopher in 2007, sister Edith, and brothers, Ted, Darcy and Jack.
Tom was a dedicated member of his community and church, serving with the Lions Club for 50 years. He enjoyed travelling, gardening and cross-country skiing. Tom left this world with a deep and abiding faith in God, evidenced by his quiet and humble service to all who knew him.
Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 16 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 175 Cecil Ave., Dryden, ON. Pastor James Woods officiating. Interment in the Dryden Cemetery will take place after the luncheon following the service. There will be no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of choice.
