• Your dad was an amazing guy. I don't think as kids that any of us fully understood the extent of his service during the war. He was the real deal and then he had to put up with our hair brained antics as young guys. I recall thinking he was so "mean" for hollering at me. I had an beat-up old 1956 Dodge that could barely make it up the family cottage's driveway hill. I wasn't much of a driver. My only answer was to slam it down into first gear and floor it. Dust and gravel were flying everywhere. I left deep nasty ruts all the way up...on a driveway that he had just spent hours raking. I picked up Mike and we bitched at how unreasonable he was.
