HANS EARNST ALFRED MIKULLA
December 18, 1935 May 21, 2019
peacefully at home on May 21, 2019.
Hans was predeceased by his beloved wife Gysbertha and parents, Alfred and Annie.
He is survived by his brother residing in Berlin, Juergen (Edelgard) along with their children, Andre and Sylvia, his son Michael (Shannon), daughter Sonja (Robert), grandchildren, Ryan (Shana), Wes (Diana), Brittany (Jasper), Michael, Jasmine and Kaity, as well as many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Hans was born in Germany in 1935. After training to become a printer he immigrated to Canada to pursue his trade. Setting off in the 50s with his best friend Gunter, Hans took work with CN Rail in Northern Manitoba. As a young man, Hans loved to frequent the
German Club on Selkirk Avenue in Winnipeg. This is where he met and fell in love with Bertha. Hans was adamant he would not
marry until he could provide for his blushing bride. He secured a job with Bonar and Bemis (later known as Endurapak) and began his trade career, moving up the ladder to
eventually become Foreman.
Hans and Bertha were married September 2, 1961. Their son Michael was born a few short years later, followed by their daughter Sonja. Together, they enjoyed the cabin in the Whiteshell where he could pursue his love of outdoor of activities. He spent a great deal of time hunting with his good friend Ziggy, and eventually Michael. After retirement, he would often be found fishing on a lake with his buddies Tony and Harry. Hans and Bertha enjoyed their many adventures travelling to exotic locations with Sonja and her family. They loved to go on walks, bird watching and deer spotting in Birds Hill.
Hans will be greatly missed. The family will not be holding services as per Hans
request. They will have a private ceremony in the future.
