GEORGE S. MITCHELL
November 7, 1923 - June 1, 2019

The train has left the station. George has gone to join the love of his life, Elaine. George will also join his sister, Gertrude and their parents.
A loving husband, father and grandfather. A Second World War veteran, train engineer and an avid golfer. He lived a long and active life filled with travel and golf.
His family; son Barry (Lorraine); grandsons, Neil and Ian; niece Beverly Martin; sisters-in-law, Betty and Margaret Watt; and dear friends, Rita and Henry Gunther will miss him.
George was a man of honour and believed that a man's word and handshake were his bond.
The family would like to thank all the staff on T3 at Deer Lodge for the exceptional care and attention given to George especially Arlis Decorte and Lindsay Bacala who had a special connection with George. The family would also like to thank Department of Veteran Affairs for their assistance in George's care.
Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of lives for George and Elaine Mitchell will be held at Barry's home on Thursday, June 27 at 1:00 p.m. We ask that you wear brightly coloured clothes for the celebration of two wonderful lives.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Deer Lodge Foundation.

  • Barry, Lorraine and family, So sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle George. The traditional Christmas Day gatherings at George and Elaine's with the Watt's and the Born's will always be treasured memories. Missing them both. - Posted by: Stephen & Diane Hicks (niece ) on: Jun 14, 2019

  • Barry and Family, I am saddened to read about your Dad's passing...I have fond memories of my parents, Jim and Anne, travelling, going to Rossmere and the Legion on Saturday nights. They were great people and we as kids loved it when they came to the house. You always knew when George was in the house. Lots of laughter and Elaine, saying "oh George"... Keep your memories of them forever...Bev - Posted by: Bev Harbour (McMillan) (Daughter of Jim McMillan (JB)) on: Jun 12, 2019
