HUGH WALLACE TRIBE
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Betty (Watson); sister Lee-Ann Bullee and family; sister-in-law Linda Watson (who has been my rock this past week) and family; numerous business associates and phenomenal friends and neighbours.
He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Margaret Tribe.
Hugh started working at Western Grocers in Brandon, MB, and after his marriage to Betty in 1966 moved to Calgary and worked for a food brokerage firm. After 12 years they decided to return to Manitoba and settled in Winnipeg where he once again joined a food broker and in 1988, he and Abe Weibe started their own brokerage firm called ProCan Sales and enjoyed a successful business together until Hugh's retirement.
Some of Hugh's favourite interests were camping, fishing, golf, curling and holidaying with his spouse on cruise ship tours. After retirement we decided to become Snowbirds and went to Arizona for winters of 2009 to 2014 by renting a home in Apache Junction. He also met many other snowbirds who became good friends and still remember them to this day. Hugh's favourite card game was Crib and held many Crib tournaments at home.
Hughie spent the last year of his life at the Deer Lodge Centre being cared for by the excellent nurses and staff on the seventh floor East Lodge for which we are eternally grateful. Also a very special thank you to all family, friends and neighbours for their many visits and "CRIB" games which he always looked forward to, and messages of condolence, cards and flowers were also very much appreciated.
A celebration of Hughie's life will be held on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Interment will take place in the family plot at Chater Cemetery (near Brandon) at a later date.
If desired, donations may be made to the ALS Society of Manitoba, 2A-1717 Dublin Avenue, Winnipeg MB R3H 0H2 or an institution of your choice.

Hugh was and still is the best of the best in food industry. His quirky smile and white hair gave him a special feature no other had in food industry. Him and Abe made a great pair and Hugh had a special way in promoting his business and lines. Betty- very sorry to hear of Hugh's passing. He was a fine, caring man. Spent many an evening trying to empty his wallet playing crib with him. The times I remember most were playing crib at his new office directly across the street from RRCC. We both laughed and giggled like 10 year olds. The last time I saw you and Hugh was at our doctors office on St. Mary Ave 3-4 years ago. I'm sorry I was unable to converse with you. Life can sometimes be unbelievably hard and painful.
