JOHN HENDRICUS VIS
May 7, 1930 - June 17, 2019
He leaves behind his wife Resi, sons, Doug (Michelle), John Junior (Leigh) and daughter Diana (Grant), as well as his four grandchildren, Jakim, Matthew, Aidan and Lea. He also leaves behind two brothers, Henk and Bill (Renée), sisters, Rita (Bob), Gertrude (Geza) and Margaret (Steven), and many nieces and nephews.
John loved and cherished his family and friends. He greatly enjoyed family gatherings and visiting with his children and grandchildren. He had many coffee groups over the years. A favourite was with farming friends, particularly his neighbour Otto Herkert, in Oak Bluff where he had farmed for almost 25 years. He was very involved in the Oak Bluff community through volunteering for boards and with his children's sports teams. John and Resi retired to the Country Villas community in Birds Hill in 1998 where they made many new and wonderful friendships.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at the Middlechurch Home for their care and compassion. Thank you to all our friends and family for your support at this hard time.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church, 264 Donwood Drive with reception to follow. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family may donate to the Manitoba Lung Association, 301-1 Wesley Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3C 4C6 in John's name.

I have many fond memories of Uncle John and the farm: Grandpa would take me out often. I vividly remember snowmobiling as a kid: Uncle John had a Polaris 340 and I was only 8 or 9 years old and already crazy about snowmobiling. I was only allowed to drive around the yard but I must of got the snowmobile stuck in the shelterbelt at least a 1/2 dozen times and Uncle John hardly said a word but always got me pulled out and on my way again. - Posted by: William Vis (Nephew) on: Jul 02, 2019

Dear Resi and family, life is so short here on earth but we have the promise of eternal life through our Lord Jesus where all family and friends will be together again. May the Lord comfort you with this promise and grant you his peace as you mourn the loss of John. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you all. Dear Resi...my deepest condolences to you and your family on John's passing. I was so sorry to read that! John was a bright, sharp, interesting man and I always loved having coffee and chatting with him, my dad and others at Birds Hill Ranch over the years, and then later with both you and John. Rest in Peace dear John! I was glad to be able to consider you my friend! - Posted by: Irene Klotz (Friend) on: Jun 23, 2019

Deepest sympathies Resi, and family. Will remember John’s wave and smile as he zipped past my house on his scooter. And you Resi - introducing yourself (on your bike) at my garage sale preparing for my move to be your neighbour. John can now Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Donna Berzuk (Neighbour ) on: Jun 22, 2019
