JOSHUA EMIL CHORNICK
Cherished son of Chris and Deborah Chornick, big brother to Nathan and canine siblings, Bella and Tyler. Adored grandson of Richard and JoAnn Chornick and Muriel Zerbin. Treasured nephew, confidant and friend to Tricia and Terry McMillan. Nephew to Brian Zerbin and Raymond (Kim) Zerbin.
He was predeceased by Edgar (Opa) Zerbin, Jessie (Nanny) Chornick and Runa (Grandma) Hallson and his life-long canine companions, Miszu and Shadow.
Joshua was an angel sent to this earth on September 24, 2000. He came into this world a fighter always knowing that he wanted to do things differently. Josh was blessed to grow up in East St. Paul where his love for inclusion and community was evident in our many gatherings. He had such deep love for our supportive friends and neighbours, and we know that he would be thanking them for looking after our family so incredibly during this horrible time. Our family would like to thank those friends who have held us up and provided comfort, strength, sustenance and tactical assistance.
This world has lost one of the greatest change makers that we ever needed. Joshua was a genius who excelled at everything: engineering, computer science, baking, gardening, painting and mindfulness, just to name a few. His passion for changing our impacts on the environment to his desperate need to ensure everyone felt included shows that he was a living example of what we are capable of. He did more in his 18 years than most of us will do in our entire lives.
The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Falcon Beach RCMP and EMS, Whiteshell Search and Rescue, and everyone who was there to help our beloved Joshua. From the bottom of our hearts we are grateful for those brave souls including you Matty, Kent and Curtis.
A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, July 15, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the North Kildonan Mennonite Brethren Church, 1315 Gateway Road. Out of our deepest desire to honour the man Joshua was, please be prepared to wear your brightest colours.
In lieu of flowers, we are setting up a memorial fund in Josh's name that will be used for scholarships and charitable donations. More information will be available at the service.

Dear Joanne and family. I never had the pleasure of meeting your kids. Or if I did I do not remember. I do remember hearing of your grandsons death and brother Axel called me today and told me about the memorial you and your family have put on the trail. I do remember you and Pat being at my dad's funeral many years ago. Thinking of you from all the Borgfjords - Posted by: Lenore Boyce nee Borgfjord (Cousin. ) on: Jun 30, 2021

I have known Josh for about three years and even though our friendship did not extend beyond online communities, he served as a testament for the embodiment of compassion and patience. For his kindness and support have mended countless hearts and banished loneliness among those he touched. He was too young, too gentle. - Posted by: Ravail Sandhu (Online acquaintance) on: Jul 19, 2019

Our son Tim was friends with Josh through Engineering. We have been thinking of Josh’s family these past many days and feeling so very sad for you all. Josh was absolutely a superstar amongst superstars. He was going to change the world indeed. Phil taught him Critical Thinking at U of M this past winter and Josh left a deep and lasting impression on him as a student, a thinker and a person. Our hearts are breaking for your loss. I did not know you although I knew your Dad and Grandfather Richard. It sounds like you lived as an eager going concern with a whole lot of interests. To Chris, Richard and the Chornick/Zerbin families... my deepest condolences on the passing of Joshua, a young man taken too soon. - Posted by: Sandy (Former co-worker at Readyfoods Limited) on: Jul 06, 2019
