LESLIE ANNE SMITH
August 14, 1961 - July 27, 2019

It is with extreme sadness our family announces the sudden passing of our wonderful Daughter, Niece, Sister, Auntie, Cousin and Friend, Leslie, at her home in Winnipeg.
Leslie was predeceased by our father Stanley in 2009. She is survived by her mother Bernice, her sister Janice Paulick, sister Alison (Dan Postnicks), brother Michael (Bruce Smith), nephew Hunter Postnicks, niece Laura Postnicks, our extended family, Leslie's dog Abby, plus Leslie's second family, the Carlins, including her dearest friend Glenda Hanslip.
Leslie grew up in Winnipeg where she graduated from Miles Macdonell Collegiate. In our childhood we enjoyed numerous camping trips to the lakes of Manitoba and road trips in the summer. Later, Mom and Dad decided to make Gimli our go-to place for the summers where we had many happy times.
After high school Leslie began working at the Winnipeg Free Press, on the Production line, on September 5, 1979 and remained there throughout her working life with the many changes in the industry. She was well-liked there and built many friendships.
Leslie was a kind soul with a big heart who truly cared about everyone she knew. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and was thoughtful and generous in life's celebrations.
A celebration of Leslie's life will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden, 4477 Main Street and will be interred at Holy Ghost Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a commemorative gift can be made in Leslie's name to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3;

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • I am so very sorry for the passing of Leslie. I will be at the funeral Bernice and Janice. I lost Bill on Jan. 11, 2017 so I understand the the grief you are going through. Bill was too young to go and of course so was Leslie. I'll let Gail know in Surrey B.C. where she lives now with husband Wayne. I will be making a donation to the Humane Society as I feel dogs are so important in our lives. Babs Ryzowski - Posted by: Barbara J. Ryzowski (Cousin) on: Jul 30, 2019

  • Since Leslie and Glenda met way back at the beginning of their schooling; Leslie has been a member of the Carlin Clan! She was always ready with a sweet smile and willing to roll up her sleeves to help at every Carlin family event. Rest well, lil sister.....love you, Laurie and Jim plus Whiskersaurus Rex - Posted by: Laurielynne Norquay (Glenda (Carlin) Hanslip's older sister, Leslie's other older sisterđź’—) on: Jul 30, 2019
