GURDEV KAUR PANDHER
1923 - 2019

On the morning of August 3, 2019, surrounded by the people she loved, Gurdev Kaur Pandher (nee Sekhon) passed away peacefully in her sleep. Matriarch, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother, her legacy lives on in her four children, Baljinder Thindh (Ajit), Dilbar Pandher (Harinderpal), Shingara Pandher (Paramjit), and Sikander Pandher (Maninder). She was also greatly loved by her 11 grandchildren, and her three great-grandchildren.
Gurdev was born in Ber Kalan, Punjab, India. A great story teller, she would often reminisce about her childhood and family life in India. She immigrated to Canada in October of 1982, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Our Bibiji will be remembered for her big heart, selfless nature, and the life lessons she imparted on us. She loved having a full house, and making sure no one left her home on an empty stomach. She was fiercely independent, strong willed, and was a magnetic force that drew generations of her family together.
We take solace in the fact that Bibiji is now surrounded by those that predeceased her - her husband, Bhag Singh Pandher, and her brothers and sister. Although gone in body, the essence of her spirit lives on in all of us.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard, followed by Antim Ardas and Bhog at Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara, 900 McLeod Ave.
