HERMAN JAMES TURNER JR.
January 27, 1970 - August 22, 2019

On August 22, 2019 Herman James Turner passed away due to complications of Diabetes.
Herman James is survived by his son Luke, parents, Herman Sr. and Patricia Turner, brother Farron, sister Edith, friend Kevin, nieces, Dakota, Francine, Darci, Emily, and nephew Eric; as well as great-nieces, nephew, aunts, uncles and many cousins.
Growing up in Grand Rapids he attended Grand Rapids School where Herman James became a budding mechanic. Herman James was always able to disassemble household items such as clocks, Dad's electric shaver, Mom's eggbeater and telephone, or anything with an electric motor just to see how it worked. Reassembly, well that's Dad's job.
At Gordon Bell High School, he met lifelong friends, Larry and Kelly Blondeau. Herman James then attended Red River Community College where he completed Heavy Duty Mechanics. Vince Campbell was a loyal roommate, where they lived in three different locations during the school year.
He had a passion for turning wrenches and took pride in his work. His strong work ethic started with his father in his younger years.
This sent him on his career path with The Grand Rapids Esso, where he was introduced to auto mechanics by Cliff Bjorklund, Manitoba Hydro, Comstock, where Herman James met many friends, and eventually the Oil Sands in Fort McMurray. Working for Thompson Brothers, Herman James overcame adversity by proving his strong work ethic and his ability to exceed the demanding work environment of the oil patch. Where he will be missed.
He then returned home to Grand Rapids to work for the family business, TTT Repair. Staff and employees will miss his humour and antics that helped make the day special.
Luke, Herman James' son, was the real light of Herman's life. Herman James was a dedicated, loving father who would go out of his way to spend time with Luke. James made sure Luke had everything a son could have.
Uncle James enjoyed his nieces and nephews. James loved spending time with them and would not pass up the opportunity to pinch cheeks or give them his favourite wrestling move "THE CLAW".
Herman James enjoyed the company of his friends and cars. His favourite car, the Pontiac Trans Am, which he owned and restored many. If you're a friend with an interest in muscle cars you became a friend. James would never forget you or your car.
A memorial service for the late Herman James Turner will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the Grand Rapids First Nation Band Hall with Rev. Steve Martin officiating. Honorary Urn Bearers, Vince Campbell, Joey Cook, William Ferland, Farron Turner, Larry Blondeau and Eric Turner.
Special thanks to the Grand Rapids Health Authority and the Grand Rapids Nursing Station for their assistance, as well as the community of Grand Rapids for their kindness and support.
