JONATHAN CHARLES
JACKSON-GARWOOD
Jonathan was born on October 31, 1966 to Margot and Donald Jackson and was affectionately nicknamed Pumpkinhead. He graduated from St. Pauls High School in 1984 and remained active with them and their alumnae community up until his death. He graduated from Carleton University, Faculty of Commerce in 1988 with the gold medal. Jonathan was a gifted, passionate, loving individual who battled many demons. His faith in God sustained him. He was a force of nature and had a gift with people evidenced by the hole he has left behind. Jonathan worked with Mead Johnson and Xerox as one of their top salesmen in his early career and had his own company, Evergreen Communications.
He has joined his mother and stepfather, Dr. John Garwood in heaven and leaves behind his sister Johanna Garwood, her husband Benny and daughter Salem whom he adored. He will also be missed by his stepbrothers, Simon and David and their families; half-sisters, Emma, Claire and Caroline, as well as his father in North Carolina and his wife Brenda.
Jonathan's funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Artbeat Studio in Winnipeg (artbeatstudio.ca).

Jonathan and I were penpals for years when I was editor of the Winnipeg Free Press. We initially connected over some news story or the other, but he became one of those people you just like to talk to -- smart, articulate, good-humoured and kind. I am sorry to have just discovered his passing. Too soon; far too soon. - Posted by: Margo Goodhand (Friend) on: Oct 17, 2019

My condolences to Jonathan’s family. Jonathan always had a big, beautiful smile and a warm hug for me each and every time we came across one another. We had wonderful chats and he actually liked my cooking when my husband brought him home one day for dinner. I miss Jonathan terribly but I know that he is comforted and safe in the wings of angels. - Posted by: Arlene Porritt (Friend) on: Sep 24, 2019

I have known Jonathan for many years. We met because our parents were friends through medical social connections. Jonathan and I lived somewhat parallel lives which made for entertaining interactions sporadically throughout our lives. Jonathan was always a little quirky which is what I loved about him. He and I are both champions for people living with mental health issues. Jonathan's kind loving nature will be missed by many. His Faith in God will surely find him a place in Heaven close to his mother, whom he adored. Never another moment of pain for Jonathan. When I see a butterfly I will be reminded of you Jonathan. Hugs for you my "brother". - Posted by: Trevor Porritt (Friend) on: Sep 24, 2019
