KENNETH (KEN) MICHAEL BENOIT
January 25, 1954 - September 24, 2019
Ken is survived by his partner of 36 years, Deborah Lillies; son Keith Lillies; daughter Tanya (Robbie) Shuturma; grandchildren, who were the world to him, his buddy Phoenix Shuturma and his peanut Déjà Shuturma; brother Randy (Michele) Benoit; nephew Bryce (Brittany) Benoit; niece Mackenzie Benoit; brothers and sisters-in-law, Shirley (Melville) Lillies, Thelma Nugent, Lenard (Anne) Phillips, Mic (Keri) Phillips, and many other relatives.
He was predeceased by his dad Aime (2005), mother Germaine (2018), and brother-in-law Gerry (2011).
Both at work and at play, cars, or any other motorized vehicle, were a huge part of Ken's life. He had worked himself up to a managerial position at Killeen Auto Glass before venturing out on his own to start Benoit Auto Glass. He was a bonafide car guy having had more cars, trucks, motorcycles, skidoos and quads over the years than is possible to count. His car collection and MINI collectibles were admired and envied by many.
Many thanks to his CancerCare team, especially Dr. Czaykowski and Denise Klassen, staff at Health Sciences Centre, St. Boniface and Concordia Hospitals, home care and palliative care for taking such good care of him the past four months.
In keeping with Ken's wishes, a celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 778 Archibald Street.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in memory of Ken may be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Deb and the Entire Benoit Family, I am so very sorry to hear this incredibly sad news only yesterday about a friend and business acquaintance. Mr. Benoit as I referred to him was a wonderful, fun person to know and work with in the auto glass industry. I will always remember our time spent and laughs shared at Red Top. Our deepest sympathies to Deb, Keith, Tanya & family for your loss. Lorraine & I remember Ken as a Good Man who tirelessly sandbagged without falling in the pool & removed 80ft of dock without being asked. Circumstances Prevent me from being there today but our thoughts & prayers are with you all. Paul L - Posted by: paul lasko (friend) on: Oct 01, 2019

Remember Ken from our teen years trailriding on his old Honda. He was always so excited to be riding with a great bunch of fun-loving dirt bikers. Haven't seen him in 40 years but still have great memories. - Posted by: Rob johnson (Friend from trails aka the dumps) on: Sep 30, 2019

Having known Deborah since elementary school days way back at Graysfield School in Lake Francis, I only recently met Ken. Our friendship saw turns and gaps along our journeys, however, our paths crossed often over the years. On several of those occasions it was very plain to see what a great big heart Ken had when it came to Deb, the grandkids, and his MINIs. Our condolences to all ... cherish the memories. — Phyllis & Rick - Posted by: Phyllis (Schick) Wareham (Friend) on: Sep 29, 2019

We met Ken many years back and his presence always will be cherished. Though Ken, we met many of great friends, his family & enjoyed his genuine friendship. There was never a dull moment around Ken. One humorous chuckle was when Ken built his 510 Datsun & put a Chevy small block in it. He would present the vehicle as a freshly purchased off an elderly person. With a straight face he would ask people if they thought the motor in it was normal. My fondest memory of Ken will be his soft side when he was around his grandchildren. Deborah & family, our thought & sincere condolences are with you. We're going to miss that his trade mark greeting. Yo Yo - Posted by: Keith Pettapiece / Cindy (Friend's) on: Sep 28, 2019

A fellow bike guy from my early years who I ran into at home depot a year or two ago has passed away. He was one of the fixtures at the dumps AKA the Trails behind McDonald's and the high rail tracks on Narin Ave. He was big man and from St Boniface he would like all of us sneak our dirt bikes through back ways or pushing them to get out there and spend many hours riding the Trails. Ken had mentioned that he still had several different bikes and welcomed me to come over and take a spin on one just never got a chance to do it. He was a fixture at a lot of the car shows and a larger than life kind of guy he will be missed. - Posted by: Chris Hillhouse (Old riding friend from the Trails) on: Sep 28, 2019
