HEATHER GAIL WOOD
(nee HODGE)
October 28, 1938 - September 19, 2019
Heather was predeceased by her husband and love of her life, Charles (Scotty) Wood, in 2011.
Left to forever cherish Heather are sons, Bruce, Robert, Brad and Jason; daughters-in-law, Debbie and Nora; grandchildren, Katrina, Marlee, Samantha, Charlie, Gage, Noelle and Tatum.
Heather was born in Pointe du Bois, Manitoba. It was here that she met her husband Charles, and together they shared 52 years of marriage raising a family of four boys. In between raising four boys, Heather worked most of her career as an Office Manager. Prior to retiring she worked with the Winnipeg Fire Fighters Union. She had many interests, in the summer she could be found golfing, taking long walks, or the backyard talking to neighbours while tending to her flower gardens. In the winter she enjoyed curling.
Mom always made time to be out watching her children's sporting events and acting as a chauffeur to four busy boys. In the mid 1980s, Mom and Dad built a family cottage in Lac du Bonnet. It was here that the family gathered each summer to enjoy water skiing, fishing and swimming. Each year the family grew, and the four apples of her eye gave way to the grandchildren! Mom would always be waiting with a smile and asking how her grandchildren were.
Mom had a friendly and inviting energy about her that made people feel welcome.
A celebration of Heather's life will take place on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue, Winnipeg, MB.
