We would like to extend our condolences to Mary-Ann and her family. We had occasion to meet Lyle and spoke with Mary-Ann several times at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg where our mother (Ramona) is a resident. We were sorry to read about Lyle's passing. May all of your wonderful memories of your life together comfort you and stay in your heart forever. Please Take Care and know that our thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Kathy & Meghan (Friends) on: Oct 27, 2019

I am truly sorry for your loss, Mary-Ann, Greg, Andy and Scott and your families. I don't need to tell you what a lovely person Lyle was. He was always there for family. It doesn't seem like that long ago (and I know it was) that I was at your wedding. It was the first wedding I attended, I was pretty young and it was such a treat for me to attend (I hope I wasn't a brat). I am so very sorry that I can't be there with you for the service. It is one of the worst things about living so far away. My heart, however, will be with you. - Posted by: Pat Meakin (Cousin) on: Oct 14, 2019

This is very sad news. Our sincere condolences to Mary Ann, Greg, Scott and Andy and all of Lyle’s extended family. Linda and I will miss Lyle very much, he was a good, giving and humble man. The world was a better place because Lyle was in it. The world would be a much better place, if there were more people like Lyle. I have very good memories of Lyle and the Cairns and all the good times Linda and our family had with the Cairns over the years. When our family first moved to Winnipeg in 1967, Lyle was always there to help everyone, especially my parents – no complaints and no questions asked. This ranged from loaning my father (Bernie) his truck to helping my mother (Ann) with a plumbing disaster, when dad was away traveling on business. Lyle was a man of many talents, beyond his good golf game. It was only recently that I discovered what a good hockey player Lyle was in his younger years. After prompting from Mary Ann, I grilled Lyle with many questions about his past hockey exploits in Winnipeg. Over an evening he shared his hockey resume with me, it was most impressive. Linda also told me what a good dancer that Lyle was, as he occasionally navigated her around the dance floor, at those family weddings we attended in our earlier years. Linda & I really wish we could be there to express our condolences in person. However, circumstances conspired against that. "Just do it". Those were the encouraging words to Bob that had a profound effect; convert to convert. Bob has rejoiced in his newfound faith since 2012, always remembering that it was Lyle who gave him the final push on his quest. Some folks touch lives with an everlasting goodness when they cross our paths. Lyle was one. Thank you, Lyle. R.I.P. - Posted by: Florence (friend) on: Oct 12, 2019
