Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWALTER BOSWICK
We are saddened by the loss but celebrate the life of Walter Boswick, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who passed away peacefully October 10, 2019, at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 92.
He leaves to mourn his wife June; five children, Greg (Crystal), Heather (Peter), Cynthia (David), Gordon (Loretta), John (Stella); seven grandchildren, Justin (Christine), Jonathan, Michael, Haley, Tyler, Brendan, Jessica; and great-grandson little Emery. He was predeceased by his mother Anna; father Josef Boskewiecz; and his two brothers, John and Michael. Walter will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Walter was born on August 1, 1927, in Winnipeg and he resided there his whole life. He attended St. John's High School where he made life long friends. As he entered his final decade of life, we enjoyed his stories about his early life growing up in Point Douglas, Winnipeg. Walter achieved a long career with CNCP Telecommunications as a supervisor, retiring in 1991. He met the love of his life, June, in 1951 and they enjoyed almost 65 years of marriage together. They were devoted to each other until he passed away. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Walter was a high school athlete and carried his love of sports throughout his life. He loved curling and was a member of the Fort Rouge Curling Club, enjoying many winter evenings there. He passed on the curling and sporting traditions to all of his family and especially enjoyed curling with them.
In 1972 Walter and June purchased a cottage at Grand Beach and went on to enjoy forty seven fabulous summers with their children and grandchildren at the beach.
Walter's life spanned almost a century and every chapter centred around family. He was an excellent role model to them with his humility, discipline and work ethic. He was a true gentleman. He instilled the value of education to all his family and he was always supportive and proud when they achieved their goals.
The family would like to extend sincere appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the staff on 3C at Riverview Health Centre where Walter spent the last year and a half of his life. They became a second family to Walter and June and their care and incredible compassion was always recognized and truly appreciated.
Wally, Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa - you
will remain in our hearts forever.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Ave., at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Riverview Health Centre in memory of Walter Boswick.
