ROBERT HARVEY FORBES
November 18, 1941 - October 9, 2019
Robert leaves his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He will also be missed by his three sisters and his brothers-in-law, as well as his nieces and nephews, and his many cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Bob and Evelyn Forbes, his sister Ruth, and his nephew Brent.
Robert was born in Winnipeg on November 18, 1941 and grew up on a farm in Rathwell, Manitoba. He had many fond memories of his life in the country. After leaving the farm, Robert worked many jobs.
Robert will be remembered for his huge heart and his quirky sense of humour. He was happiest when he was helping others. He spent many years volunteering in his Point Douglas Community and received awards and recognition for his time and good work. Robert was very proud of the award of bravery he received from Lt. Gov. W.J. McKeag for entering a burning house to rescue two small children. He liked to add that he got reprimanded for being late when he arrived at work that morning. Robert was never far from his cell phone, and no matter where he was, he would be ready to help when needed. He loved to keep in touch with people from his hometown and was always interested in any news.
We would like to thank his home care workers and all the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for the wonderful care Robert received.
A celebration of Robert's life will take place in his hometown at a later date.
Those who desire may make a donation in his memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Rest in peace Robert

I miss you dad. ❤️ I never wanted to face the day that I would lose a parent. It’s still hitting me. I haven’t really accepted it yet. RIP 🙏 - Posted by: Natalie Forbes (Daughter) on: Jul 27, 2020
