ALMA LUCIE RICHARD
(née ST. PIERRE)
November 18, 1931 August 23, 2019
She is survived by her brother Léo; her children, Pierre, Suzanne, Eugène; grandson Marc; her son-in-law Alan; step-grandchildren, Matthew, Patrick, Olivia, Alicia, Abigail and Lollipop (the grand fur-baby) and a host of long-time friends.
Alma was predeceased by her brothers, Eugène and Aimé and daughter-in-law Linda. She is with friends and family gone before.
Alma was born at home on November 18, 1931 in St. Boniface. She was the second child and only daughter of Bertha Petit and Napoléon St. Pierre. Alma left school early to work for the Hudson's Bay Company. From there she worked at Jacob Fashions.
In the spring of 1950, Alma met her future husband Mathias. They were married a year later, on July 28, 1951. They lost their first child, Eugène Joseph born December 11, 1956. He passed on December 12, 1956.
They lived in St. Boniface and in 1957 they both accepted the position of supervisor/caretaker at St. Boniface Hospital's Interns' residence, also known as St. Roch Building. After her husband Mathias passed on October 7, 1980, Alma was transferred to St. Boniface Hospital, where she worked until her retirement in 1995. Alma lived with her children, Suzanne and Eugène until 2014, where she was then transferred to Actionmarguerite (St. Boniface) personal care home.
Ever the social butterfly, Alma made friends easily. Participating in all activities that she could, especially bingo and playing cards with her close friends, Agnes Giasson and Rita Martel.
A celebration of her life is to be held at Coutu Funeral Chapel, 680 Archibald Street on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation in memory of Alma may be made to a charity of your choice.
Please wear something red,
as it was Alma's favourite colour.
A life well lived, a life well loved.
