The first time that I had met Fred, I was very young (circa 1959). Fred and Aunt Irene came to visit us in Somerset, MB. I recall him as an impressive gentleman, but I got to know him as a truly wonderful Uncle who was a terrific and loving husband to Irene and who truly loved his children. On my way home, early in my adulthood, a city bus stopped on St. Anne’s Road where there was no bus stop and the bus driver was frantically waving at me to get on. Of course, it was Fred who asked if I was game to go to Somerset with him that coming Saturday where he was going to set up a clock for one of our former neighbours. That turned out to be a truly great day. He was an interesting person who was interested in others. We cherish the needlepoint of teddy bears that he did for our daughter when she was perhaps four years old. The world is better off for Fred having been among us and we will cherish many memories. My family and I offer our condolences to our cousins and their families. Marcel Latreille - Posted by: Marcel Latreille (Nephew) on: Nov 30, 2019

Uncle Fred was completely devoted to aunt Irene his entire life. He always said there was no one else for him. In my younger years, I remember how much he loved to party. He loved doing delicate work. I remember him repairing clocks and watches for a number of years. After retirement he tried various forms of needle work deciding on cross stitching. We were very impressed with his choice of delicate designs with tiny beads. His work was beautiful. Uncle Fred and aunt Irene were a loving devoted couple. We will always remember them fondly. - Posted by: Rose-Marie Christie (Latreillej (Niece) on: Nov 30, 2019

Fred was a great neighbor. Always friendly and pleasant. When he was able he attended many of the activities. He was an excellent bingo caller. We could set our watches by his morning walks. His needle work is a treasure. When Viv Wyatt first opened Fred donated a needle point picture for a fund raiser thus he contributed to the extra equipment in our exercise and games rooms. We will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this sad time. - Posted by: Thr Tenants of Viv Wyatt House (Fellow Tenants) on: Nov 28, 2019
