AL CARE
September 6, 1941 - November 23, 2019

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father and pops. Al passed away, peacefully in his sleep, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at Fred Douglas Lodge.
Al was predeceased by his loving wife Christine, and brother-in-law Brian Decka.
He will be deeply missed by his sons, Allan and Jason; daughter-in-law Larysa, and his cherished granddaughters, Tyanna (his princess) and Alexa (his pixie) whom he so adored. Al will also be sadly missed by his sister Donna Gannon, sister-in-law Paulette Decka; nieces and nephews, as well his many dear friends and family members.
Al spent an enjoyable career with Manitoba Telephone Systems (MTS) for 39 years of service after his graduation from the University of Manitoba. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 141, where he served as president, zone commander and participated in a multitude of other positions.
Al had a love for the summer and sun. His early favourite memories were spent for weeks at Grand Beach where he would rent a cabin for Christine and his sons to enjoy. He also looked forward to Sunday picnics and swims at Selkirk Park. As the years progressed and his boys grew older, Al was blessed to have two granddaughters to continue making cherished memories doing these things with.
Al's favourite pastime were his cars. He always had the cleanest cars and spent hours in the garage detailing them, not to mention the spic and span white garage that he was so proud of.
Al loved life and the company of good friends and family.
We will miss you Dad and Pops; we are at peace knowing that you are without pain and free. You are back together with Mom now and we know that we have gained another angel in heaven to watch over us and protect us. We miss you already and will forever hold you in our hearts.
Inurnment will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Cemetery in the Holy Angel Mausoleum (second floor), Highway #1 East at Navin Road. A Celebration of Life will follow after the Inurnment.
Special thank you to the nurses and health care aides at Fred Douglas Lodge - Spruce Wing for your care and support.

Condolences may be sent to www.wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Rest in Peace

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • My sincere sympathy. I remember your father quite well. I was the one that bought his like new 1978 Mercury a number of years ago. I was forced to down size and had to get rid of it a few years ago still in new condition - it broke your Dad's heart when he parted with it and mine when I parted with it. Sorry for your loss. Blessings. - Posted by: William Fizell (Old Friend ) on: Dec 26, 2019

  • Al and I grew up on the same street in Wpg. over 75 years ago. Played together, went to the same schools. He was Best Man for our wedding. He and Chris were our friends. Along with Ralph and Doreen Williams, Ray and Diane Aboud, Bonnie and myself, we made a point of getting together for a reunion weekend on our 50th and 75th birthday years....( all of us guys were born in the same year and had great times when we could get together in Winnipeg.) Visiting Wpg. won't be the same without the Cares being there. We miss our Friends. Ray and Bonnie Neumar - Posted by: Ray Neumar (Friend ) on: Dec 01, 2019

  • Allan and Jason, so sorry to hear of the passing of your father. You are in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Derrick Cardinal (Cousin) on: Nov 30, 2019
