STELLA GAWIAK
(nee HORASKI)

On Sunday, December 15, 2019, with her two sons, Doug and Ed by her side, Stella peacefully passed away and is now resting in peace alongside her husband Mike, who predeceased her in July 2009.
Remaining to forever cherish her memory are her sons, Doug (Eloise), Ed (Lori); grandchildren, Wesley (Lori Lynn), Mikayla, Matt, Nicole (Jeff); great-granddaughter Delia; her only surviving sibling out of nine Kay Oshanski; numerous nieces and nephews including Donna Phillips, who was like a daughter to Stella and a small but, loving group of family friends.
Stella was born in January of 1925 to Mary and Michael Horaski in Cloverleaf, MB. Before meeting the love of her life in 1950, Stella grew up farming alongside her nine other siblings. In 1954, she married Mike and they began residing in Winnipeg where they soon would be blessed with the birth of Doug and Ed.
Stella's great pleasures came from keeping the family home with Mike, gardening, family camping trips and travelling with good friends and of course, raising her sons. In her later years, her utmost joy came from spending precious time with her grand-children, who Stella was so very proud of.
Her faith was quiet and immeasurable; it gave her the strength to persevere on her own after Mike's passing in 2009. Through her faith, Stella was able to live her best life through whatever challenges she was ultimately faced with right up until her passing.
Stella was a woman full of grace, kindness and compassion. She unknowingly showed us every day how unselfish a woman she was by never complaining but, always being thankful and always thinking of and putting others before her.
Prayers will be said on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Memories in Wojcik's Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main Street at Manitoba Avenue. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Eucharist Ukrainian Catholic Church, 505 Watt Street, with Rev. Fr. Michael Kwiatkowski presiding. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 4535 Main Street.
Our sincerest appreciation goes out to the staff of River East Personal Care Home especially, the Charity Lane staff. Your care and compassion given to Stella while she resided in your facility these past years will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to your charity of choice.

Rest in Peace.
We are so very thankful for
our time spent with you,
our dear Mom and Baba
