Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I remember Uncle Carl very well. I remember his stories from working for Esso in Columbia, and his Cadillacs. He always bought us the best Christmas presents. One time he bought me a big box for Christmas. That was when stereo record players were first out, and I was so convinced that was his present to me, that when Mom and Dad went out to a party on Christmas Eve I convinced my brothers and sister to get up and open about presents around 2200. Boy did I get in troublee for that one. Incidentally no stereo, just a Spike Jones record. I have not been in touch with Florence or Carl for many years, but they both stay in my memories. I hope I can get in touch with you kids on this sad occasion. Ross McKinnon and Tang Xiao Ping, mckinnonross@gmail.com. • Carl always had a way of making you feel really good about yourself. When I was in grade 6 I had come over to call on Pat (one of Carl's sons) and I had my dog with me (he was a mutt). Carl came out and asked me if he was a show dog. He went to great lengths to point out all of Snoopy's refined qualities and how I must be doing a great job looking after him. He made me feel great about my dog and myself. Over the years there were many times Carl would speak words of kindness to me, he was an interesting and wonderful person and will be missed. - Posted by: Bradford Hewlett (Friend of one of his sons) on: Dec 24, 2019
