GERALD (GERRY) LAFERRIERE
Gerry is survived by his wife Cheryl Chesney; sister Gail (Don); sisters-in-law, Karen (Ron), Rhonda (Jeff), Marlene and Faye; nieces, Kendall (Chad), Danielle (Mark), Lee-Anne (Doug); nephews, Kyle (Chelsey), Kelly (Sara), Phil (Wanda), Chris, Garth, and Kevin; many great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Norma and Charlie, and brother Kerry.
Gerry worked hard and played hard. He was employed by Manitoba Hydro, Gimli Feed Mill with his father-in-law Gordon Busch, and Gerdau MB Steel Mill, Selkirk. He loved the outdoors - he went on many fishing trips with his dad and friends, as well as hunting trips with the family in St. Lazare. Gerry enjoyed camping, especially at his favourite Big Whiteshell Park and he loved his canoe trips with Cheryl to Experimental Lakes Area. Joining Charleswood Ski Club and Nature Manitoba Grey Hares introduced him to a wealth of friends who shared his love of the outdoors and a great party. Gatherings with the Gunter and Moulson families were special times as were his trips all over the world. Friends and family will remember Gerry as a welcoming host who loved to cook and a gardener who grew beautiful roses. He could cut a mean rug doing the polka and he could build or fix anything. He was always available for others with a helping hand.
A special thank you to the staff at St. Boniface Emergency and ward 5E - you made a difficult time easier.
As per Gerry's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
