I went to school with Abe in Winkler, Manitoba when the town had a population of 1800 people. We were on the same high school basketball team. In our earlier years we'd go swimming under the railway bridge which was known as second bridge. It was basically a mud hole but that's all we had. Lots of times we would meet at Wielers store which was halfway between my place and his. We were always friends and in high school we dated 2 girls that happened to be sisters. We lost touch after school but I made a point of reconnecting about 40 years later. It was a short but truly satisfying visit. Two years before he died I made a point of connecting again and when we were in Regina visiting my daughter and son-in-law I rented a car, drove to Winnipeg and met Abe and another high school chum at Boston Pizza, had a coffee and a great visit, then got back in the car and drove back to Regina. The effort was worth every bit. Take care old chum - Posted by: Doug Nauer (school chum) on: Jul 01, 2020

I was very sad to hear of Abe’s passing. When I was young I remember peering through the fence boards to see if he was cleaning the pool, hoping that meant an invitation to swim was coming. Hopefully knowing others will remember him fondly as a good man will bring you some comfort at this difficult time. - Posted by: Carin Davidson (Former neighbour ) on: Feb 02, 2020
